I once believed that people were inherently good, even those who did bad things. I thought that, deep down, most humans carried some measure of goodness, even if it took some digging. When confronted with those who did unthinkable things, I often wrote it off as a rare exception.

I have thought about transitioning to a higher paying non-teaching job but the first thing that stops me is not knowing what I would do with my extensive teacher earring collection...

Can you even study the butterfly life cycle without dressing like a butterfly? It was "release day" for 2nd grade butterflies but oura were still in chrysalis form at this point (I thought they died tbh, turns out they needed wayyyy more time than the other classes) so my class released me...;)

Stages of Summer: A Thread 2 Weeks Prior to Summer: Increase level of joy paired with decreased levels of work ethic. Zero *cares* given. 1 Week Prior to Summer: It's like Old Town Road in the school, can't nobody tell nobody nothin'! Last Day: Depends on your class but usually bittersweet.

An ick I have is when people correct someone else's grammar/spelling/typos on the internet.

Summer is summering by sooooo fast!

I just went viral (ish) on tiktok so for the next 72 hours can't nobody tell me nothing!

For the last few years, I've spent July posting my #clearthelist This year has been no exception. Each year, every platform starts hemorrhaging links and it feels like I'm on some sort of reality TV show, but the prize is pencils. I can't help but wonder if it's time to stop.

Unpopular opinion: I don't hate off brand school supplies, even the Roseart crayons are okay by me! I do prefer my pencils to be pre-sharpened though! #edusky #badandboujie?

Has anyone who taught pre-Covid noticed that kids are thirstier now? I don't remember many (if any) kids bringing water bottles. They drank out of the fountain mayyyybe twice a day. Now they are running through multiple bottles a day, hydrating like Olympic athletes.

My dad passed pretty unexpectedly almost 6 months ago. I have mostly failed to deal with it and have largely kept carrying on like normal...but sometimes when things get real quiet I replay that week in my mind in slow motion and I feel stuck.

Yesterday was my birthday. I went to school like usual but I swesr, next year I am taking the day. Because...pheeewwwwww.

I'm pretty "ride or die" with teaching right now because I am just *so*far*in*...but I feel like one of those musicians on the Titanic right now. And that's hard.

This week we are reading "Grace for President" and I remember before November thinking about this unit with excitement. Now I'm sad. Its about a girl who was upset to learn we never had a "girl president" so she ran for class president and won (despite the boys having more electoral votes).

Today I walked into my second grade classroom expecting it to be a regular Monday. I took my chairs down, cloroxed our desks, set out morning work, turned on a lofi beat, and prepared my materials for the day. About 15 minutes after our school doors opened, my classroom was noticeably empty. 1/?

Anyone who argues that we shouldn't feed children is a horrible person.

One week ago today, a nurse used the phrase "actively passing" to describe what was happening with my dad. The next day, he was gone. I learned a few days before things weren't looking good but to hear that phrase, we'll it really sunk in then. Those two days are stuck in my mind.
