Iâve been 100% cynical about the Niners since early last season. The energy from before was gone. Iâm no longer cynical. They arenât a great team right now, but theyâre 4-1, 3-0 in the division. They like playing together again. The NFC is beatable. Rookies are making plays. They can contend.

What an enormous win. Mac Jones rejuvenated his career. The defense came through when it counted without Bosa and pretty much proved to Kyle and Lynch that they should trade for a real pass rusher to bolster them. Their top receiver was Kendrick freaking Bourne. And Alfred Collins' play was the key.

They absolutely stuffed that. What a weak play call by Sean McVay. All that nonsense for that?!

Skyy Moore is the 49ers' new Ronnie Bell. Whenever the ball is anywhere near him, you expect the worst.

Moorstead is a beast. He knows this team can't cover punts and puts his life on the line with enthusiasm at age 49 or whatever he is.

Early submission for play of the 49ers' season by Alfred Collins. What a ridiculously clutch play by the rookie.

So many people act like Bosa was the irreplaceable guy on the Niners but itâs Kittle. He opens up the whole run game because heâs feared downfield and blocks better than a lot of linemen.

Going with consecutive QB sneaks when Mac Jones looks like Kirk Gibson in the 1988 World Series is PEAK Kyle Shanahan.

Eddy Piñeiro talking trash was hilarious. Not sure if anyone deserved to win that game, but 3-0 is 3-0. Pretty sure no one expected the 49ers to be ahead of the Packers in the NFC standings at this point.

The Niners have a lot of deficiencies. The linebacker position is not one of them.

I ended up buying a ticket for Super Bowl XLVII because I couldn't get a media pass (for $700 the night before, which would be impossible now). The Superdome was like two-thirds Ravens fans, so it's still hard to believe that Niners fans regularly take over opposing stadiums now.

It's way too early to predict that Jed will fire Kyle after this season and replace him with Saleh, but my instincts have been telling me that this is where they're headed for months.

Jake Moody barely made a 26-yard field goal against the Raiders in the preseason that everyone said would've probably missed from 27... then he doinks a 27-yard field goal today. 49ers can't say they weren't warned.

So far, Purdy looks good. The line looks awful, special teams is still a disaster, and the Seahawks keep picking on the nickel CB that everyone raved about for months.

Yeah, Verlander is cooked. I kinda saw the logic when they signed him (pitcher's park, good guy for younger starters to talk to, the team can easily afford it), even though he was pretty bad and injured last season, but his secondary pitches aren't any good.

Saw this coming when he roasted Paramount. His show dominates the ratings, so CBS Execs' reasoning: âpurely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night ... It is not related in any way to the showâs performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount" seems dubious.

The NBA was like, "Hey, you guys get the John Tesh song back! ... but we're still keeping the Finals on ABC/ESPN, a corporation that focuses on everything negative about our league. But ignore that! Just sing, 'Buh-Buh-Buh-Buh-Buh-Basketball! Gimme gimme gimme the ball because I'm gonna DUNK IT!'"

It's so funny that Rafael Devers, after getting jerked around by Craig Breslow and saying he wouldn't play first base, came to SF and said he'll play first base if needed. Breslow probably yanked the zipper on his quarter-zip up to his chin when he heard that.

The Valkeries, an expansion team that got the No. 5 pick (who wonât even play in the WNBA this season) in a 13-team league, are 5-5 after their third straight win. I was impressed by Natalie Nakase when they hired her, but she seems like an absolute home run choice now.

Logan Webb has a really good shot to win the National League Cy Young Award this season. He's striking out more guys than Paul Skenes. The only better starter right now is Tarik Skubal (AL), who's on an all-time heater.
