PROMPT IDEAS Day 5: sauna Saunas often go alongside ice baths and we've seen Penguin enjoy both in various media. The Iceberg Lounge has been seen to offer spa treatments and saunas have a history of being fronts for mafia or gay meetups. Be indulgent this #penguinweek and explore the idea further.

Separate to the games, Assault on Arkham showed us a Penguin who was a lynchpin to Gotham's operations. He was the person to see for the means or the way. Visually striking and possessing a powerful aura, he'd be a fine choice for #penguinweek. Very much a part of the city and central to everything.

Whether you're a creator or not you can join in with #penguinweek. We need people to engage with the posts, share them, like them, act as cheer leaders. Leave comments on AO3, promote with your friends. Plus, in the run-up, if you know people working to contribute, bouy them up, act as sound boards.

Our songstress, Oswalda captured hearts in Caped Crusader but anyone who expected a softer Penguin here would be wrong. She had no qualms doing whatever it took to claim her place. Her relationships would be fascinating for #penguinweek and who can resist the allure of her? Let's hope we get more.

PROMPT IDEAS Day 4: truth They say that the truth hurts but is Penguin inflicting the pain or receiving it? It could be a case of the boy who cried wolf, for who would believe a criminal? But maybe this #penguinweek is the time he chooses to clear the air or confess, whether he's believed or not.

One of the original United Underworld members, the 1960s Penguin had several note-worthy schemes. A mayoral run, going straight, a wedding, getting incarcerated... nothing would be too outlandish for #penguinweek. He is iconic and a fan favorite, creating a character that became a household name.

There have been a lot of Penguins since being introduced in 1941, some of which we're sharing here, but don't be limited by our choices. Or indeed to only one for #penguinweek. It could be an opportunity to have different versions cross paths or just spice up your prompts by mixing and matching.

A personal favourite is Unlimited's Penguin. Experienced, mechanically knowledgeable and resigned to society's opinion. We didn't get long with him which just means more scope to imagine for #penguinweek. A classic design and willing to use people for his own ends. He thought big and so should you.

PROMPT IDEAS Day 3: evasion Gotham criminals require a lot of evasive tactics, from the GCPD, Batman, other rogues, or the IRS 😬 but Penguin is known to be a master tactician. Although maybe for #penguinweek the evasion is more subtle. Difficult questions, uncomfortable truths or unwanted feelings.

Comics. All encompassing stories that cover so many variations. There's been something for everyone in the last 85 years. Our Gentleman of Crime has displayed every facet of his personality here and #penguinweek would be a good time to examine your favorite. Or perhaps fix those you felt went wrong.

Conveying someone like Oswald with voice alone is a talent and Bobby Moynihan in the Audio Adventures gave a superlative performance. This Penguin is manipulative, several steps ahead and entrenched in the city. You could utilise sound for #penguinweek or consider his visual from the tie-in comic.

PROMPT IDEAS Day 2: technology Many Penguins are known for their innovative use of tech. From adaptations of various umbrellas to an eyepiece interface, he is known to have co-opted other people's work or acted as a source for trade. Be adventurous for #penguinweek and embrace your creative side.

The Gotham TV series gave us new explanations for familiar attributes of the Penguin, such as his monocle and gait, as well as changed histories with the rogues and heroes. Few other iterations gave us so much material to work with yet left so much unsaid leaving plenty to consider for #penguinweek.

This #penguinweek don't be shy about sharing any type of content. Traditional art, digital drawing, writing (short or long), video edit or gifs, essays, musical compositions, hand made soft toy, cross stitch, baked as a cookie, built in a character creator, sculpted, or something else entirely.

Season 3 of Batwheels started airing in December offering more charismatic Penguin and cute Ducky. Oswald has long been associated with iconic vehicles, from submarines to blimps, but few as memorable as his duckmobile. This #penguinweek why not consider his automobile exploits, whether good or bad.

PROMPT IDEAS Day 1: coffee Whether you think of a coffee shop AU or caffeine for an all-nighter, this beverage has a lot of connotations. Maybe it's break time at the Iceberg Lounge or a hangover cure. Your choice for #penguinweek can be as light or dark, bitter or sweet, as your drink preference.

From his introduction in Arkham City as a crime boss to his appearance in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League supplying weapons, Oswald has had an important role in the games. Whether in London, Gotham or Metropolis there's still plenty to explore for #penguinweek with this rough and gruff rogue.

#penguinweek isn't ship focused though you can include one as long as Penguin is the main focus. All options are welcome including OCs and self-inserts. I expect everyone to be respectful of different preferences. You don't have to engage if it's not for you but who knows what gems you may discover.

If you haven't taken part in one of these events before, there will be a prompt for each day between the 25th to 31st July. People can use those to inspire any Penguin focused creations they want. Tag them #penguinweek here or on bluesky to share. There'll also be an AO3 collection for writers.

STATISTICS Our most popular Penguin is Colin Farrell's portrayal of Oz taking over half the fiction entries for the week.
