Wasn't so long ago that I watched Nobunagun, that seeing Petals of Reincarnation this season I feel a touch of, "Oh another of these?". It's plenty different though, I might prefer Nobunagun's style? I'm curious to see where our thieving MC winds up in the melee of history's Greats and Sinners.

I expected to enjoy Witch Hat Atelier from having read the manga so this anime season I don't think I've had a series surprise me as a contender for being my favorite of the season the way Journal with Witch did last season. Anything good catch folks by surprise that I shouldn't miss this season?

Finally got around to Tron Ares. Made sure to settle in and get a drink, put it on the big screen. About, half way in? I'll finish this while I'm washing dishes. It looks fine, there's a plot. Just, kinda sauceless. Am I weird that I was curious to see what happened to Sam & Quorra?

Off to a good start with the 2nd season of Wistoria. I'm curious to see where things go, if perhaps the schooling portion of the series is at an end.

Strong opening for Maul - Shadow Lord. Framing Star Wars in a particular genre from Western, Kid's Adventure or Crime/Noir has produced some enjoyable results. Always good to hear Sam Witwer's Maul, a solid anchor for a promising cast.

Drifters In a world awash in Isekai series grabbing for some twist or gimmick, Drifters barrels down the action lane. Seldom still or contemplative it's either meting out frenetic, brutal battles or letting VAs devour the scenery as they portray their assigned historical hero or villain.

Did Tetsuo and Yukio just fail a Gunbuster speed run in like. . . 15 minutes? Still kind of impressive. Now let's get to the icy post apocalypse! I'm curious what conspiracy awaits in Snowball Earth.

As the 2nd season of The Beginning After the End picks up, I realize, having watched Ant's critique of Shadow of the Conqueror, that its premise is similar, both follow a reborn tyrant. Just a bit of character growth alongside the power fantasy. It's fine so far, sort of shows the premise can work.

I was wondering if we'd get a 2nd season of Reincarnated as a Sword.

As I went to block that BlueSky AI account thing, I couldn't help but notice its PFP was basically just a re-color of Halo 3: ODST's Superintendent? Probably too simple a design to claim copyright on but. . . Just seems an ill-advised choice on top of a bad decision.

Another look at Science Saru's Ghost in the Shell. This is looking so promising, Stand Alone Complex is one of my favorite series ever. I'm glad this looks so distinctly different, doing its own thing but also, something about it evokes the Manga style more than its predecessors.

Finished up Roll Over and Die. Dark (sometimes literally & usually figuratively), brutal, Yuri in a fantasy setting. It's fine, the way it deploys narration makes it feel a little clunky/rushed, telling more & showing less at points. Maybe start with The Executioner & Her Way of Life & then this?

Disheartening news, the animation for the Hades / Hades II trailers have been amazing. If the quality could be maintained? I'd watch the Hell out of a Hades animated series.

Scum of the Brave has a style where you at least initially might not expect a guy would die clasping at his own entrails but, yeah, it's actually kinda brutal at times. I do like that some of the most bad ass dudes are playing a TCG in their down time.

RIP Sam Kieth. My first & Main point of contact with The Maxx was MTV's Oddities. The style is fantastic, scenes of The Outback with The Maxx & Julie evoked the Frank Frazetta covers of my parents' old pulpy sci-fi & fantasy books that I found at just the right or wrong age. A rewatch perhaps?

Went back & re-watched the 1st ep of Xam'd: Lost Memories. This series looks so slick, like Eureka Seven & Gundam Reconguista in G where Kenichi Yoshida also did character design. Feels like it's pulling from Ghibli aesthetics but that's a solid source of inspiration. The OP is a real banger too.

The first season of Wind Breaker hit Netflix. The brawls that Sakura & his classmates find themselves in are well done. Pretty straightforward mostly just camaraderie, rivalry & violence. I might roll back through & re-watch at some point.

If not for the hamfisted jokes at Aoi's expense, You're Under Arrest! Would be one of the easiest retro anime recommendations ever. Still, a capable trans police officer in a 90's workplace comedy/action anime? Seems noteworthy.

I needed something familiar to watch so I started up Drifters. Yes, we've no shortage of Isekai series out there but few of them are as striking to me. Where many Isekai feature flashy OP attacks & spells. The fights in Drifters have a unique weight & brutality to them. Incredible Dub too.

Werewolf by Night, I'd class as like a made for TV movie. Only just recently watched it, a lot of campy fun that requires no MCU familiarity.

Put up a shelf in the finished basement to keep toys and such up off of the floor. The kiddo is getting into Star Wars lately so the well used toys I got from a yard sale in the 80's when I was a kid myself are getting at least one more generation of play out of them.

People are watching Journal with Witch right? Maybe I'm just not stumbling upon the appreciation for this show in my scrolling. While its inciting incident, the loss of family, warrants a warning for those not in a good space for it. Its exploration of loss, grief & connection is very moving.

Still quite glad that The Templin Institute is back to making videos. I may need to track down & watch Wings of Honnêamise, I think I actually haven't watched it in its entirety before.

Having re-watched it last year, It's a shame, the conditions that led to how Yu Yu Hakusho wrapped up, it had such solid arcs leading up to the final one. From sidelining Kuwabara to watering down even the manga's ending. I found myself nostalgic for the old Dubbed OP, Netflix didn't have it.
