Building in secret and hoping for a big bang when it's launch is over.  It's a saturated market, & #startups are pretty much indistinguishable with each other.  The most successful brands now have to sell both the products and build relationships. How? Start by sharing your BTS.

At the #TechTO #TogetherYC event, BioRender co-founder Ryan Marien got real about the Canadian Problem. The friction in Canada is cultural. Institutions are scared of the unknown. Founders hide ideas fearing theft. In #SF, you talk constantly. Because the faster you talk, the faster you exit.

Stop waiting for perfection. The point of beta testing is to fail fast and iterate.  By showing a glimpse of your prototype now, you’re testing feature and building a waiting list before you launch. “It’s not perfect yet.” That’s the point. #MVP #ProductManagement

#YC is investing in #CanadianStartups again: "After hearing feedback from Canadian founders in our network, we’ve decided to add Canada back to our list of accepted countries of incorporation. Going forward, #YC will once again invest in #US, #Canada, #Cayman, and #Singapore corporations."

For deep tech, #YC isn't one-size-fits-all. Myra notes that 3 months isn't enough for R&D. Demo Day becomes a warm-up, not a close. Plus, the opportunity cost is real: Incorporating in #Delaware might mean losing valuable #Canadian grants and university support.   You have to weigh your options.

What about #hardtech going the traditional VC route?  Myra Arshad (ALT TEX) shares her #YC story. Hard tech milestones aren't as flashy as software, you can't ship a feature overnight. The challenge? Learning to communicate scientific progress as business traction.
