The EU’s forthcoming Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is already having ripple effects around the world. From Istanbul to Seoul to Beijing, policymakers and companies are now discussing how to design carbon pricing systems of their own.

Climate policy isn’t just about ambition, it’s about consistency. The EU’s plan to phase out free pollution allowances for steelmakers under the Emissions Trading System & replace them with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) was agreed years ago. It’s a gradual shift, but a vital one.
