friday session : kickstarting things off with the blast of hip hop beats, shouty vocals and cut-up samples-n-noise. this is not an album for your hangover, but a soundtrack to the process towards getting a hangover. i love it.

friday daytime chores session : still on a roll re the heliocentrics. i love this album a little bit more each time i give it a spin. serious grooves, fantastic 'live in the studio' production, and so much more.

true story : i have sat on the very top of one of these buildings and shared a 6 pack of beer with a work colleague. was quite the experience to say the least.

thursday session : time for a massively random groove swerve. bring on the DEVO excess.

thursday session : time for some widescreen, wall shaking nu-era hip hop. wont make it to the end of the album. but while it is on, i cannot help but love the insanity of it.

thursday session : a long time ago, i fell hard for the whole flykkiller thing. the industrial/downtempo/leftfield project by stephen hilton and polish pop legend pati yang. as part of the whole chaos, stephen compiled this mixtape of dark post-punk grooves. it's not even on discogs.

in other news : finished season 1 of yellowstone today. dense (often brutal) family drama vs stunning locations. it's pretty good stuff.

thursday session : time for a quick mixtape. another hip hop connection vs lex records covermount (there were a few!). much more psychedelic than your usual boom bap styled production.

thursday session : been in the archive for a while, but never given a spin. lets see how this goes.

thursday afternoon session : as i'm on a roll re the early era of lex records, then of course this fantastic collaboration between sage francis and joe beats gets a spin. the loops, the scratches, the samples, the vocals. this is an absoute classic backpacker styled hip hop album.

thursday daytime chores session : love this set of sunshine friendly laid back beats-n-samples that dr who dat? (aka jneiro jarel) put together and released on lex. for fans of madlib, oh no etc.

wednesday session : after some random bloghouse chaos, felt the urge for one of the best hip hop albums ever.

wednesday session : i know the football is important and all that. however, just got word that mk2 has landed in croatia and all ok. subsequently my stress levels have reduced back to zero and so, tis time for some bloghouse xs. this is a good a place as any to start.

wednesday session : after months of collecting the insanity of tracking down the cd catalogue of finders keepers and the various offshoots, i have kind of left it alone. tonight though, the urge is back. what better place to kickstart the chaos with this album of edits by the boss.

wednesday session : more of the same via an ep of remixes of the 'ghetto pop life' album which is now on its way to hq of course.

wednesday session : one of the best ever hip hop connection covermounts was this mixtape version of 'ghetto pop life' by dangermouse and jemini. so much so, that i never got around to get the album proper. one of these days.

wednesday session : it's just an ep, but damn, what an ep. madlib, danger mouse, MF DOOM, talib kweli

wednesday session : time for beat mixtape albeit a bit different. oh no vs the now-again catalogue, but this time with vocals by percee p. end result : sample heavy cut up beats vs an old school rap hero i.e. it's bloody brilliant.

wednesday early morning session : a certain mood and groove has descended upon ireallylovemusic hq in the last few days, lots of oh no productions. so, kicking off this collab with madlib, i.e. his brother, that came out on madlib invazion with an extra cd of instrumentals a few years ago.

in other news : after a 'secret wedding' in the cotswolds yesterday, today i ended up at the wimbledon finals. neither of the adventures were booked in, both were randoms. insane times.

saturday session : following the insane 'secret wedding' groove, i am back in the safety of the west wing. could not be bothered re figuring out what to listen to, so decided upon a mixtape of randoms.

in other news : a friend picked me up to go to a 50th birthday of a mutual friend. gorgeous spot in the cotswolds. marquee, free bar, band etc. then out of nowhere, the birthday party became a wedding. most insane experience ever. felt like i was a bit part player in an episode of 'rivals'.
