thursday session : ever since i heard about this release i have been on countdown till its release. a mixtape featuring all manner of dark-n-heavy hip hop/electro productions from pete sasqwax vs stephen king film samples all cut-n-paste by joe clockwork.

thursday session : kicking things off with a hip hop mixtape from the ever impressive weaponize crew. this is a cracking cut-n-paste selection of 80s/90s hip hop with some known classics thrown alongside quite a chunk of unknowns (to me). perfect for a sunset session.

wednesday session : peaking too early perhaps with this widescreen hip hop production by alvin stardusts son. if you've only heard adam f doing d-n-b, be prepared to raise your eyebrows. guestlist vs the sample heavy production still sounds fantastic. would love an expanded remaster of course.

wednesday early doors session : couple of days ago i spotted the finders keepers cd edition of this being available from a uk seller for a decent price. a very rare situation. so of course i grabbed it. absolutely loving the weird, psych, library, kitsch excess. never thought i'd get this one.

sunday session : second only to age of chance re bands from leeds. i f^cking love love love this album.

sunday session : groove serve. before i discovered beats-n-noise, this crew were the last guitar band i fell hard for. yeah yeah. i know all the jokes re echo etc. but, the fact is that this lot played an amazing gig at leeds poly and the album is full of tunes and swear words.

sunday session : dial has been reset. time for a mixtape. and yeah, of course it has to be this. one of the best commercially available mixtapes ever that blends hip hop scratchadelica vs bass noise.

in other news : is it time to put on my electric blanket yet !? i.e. welcome to BST.

sunday session : it may not be quite as dark, but it sure is grim out there today. after last nights social adventure involving old time vocal jazz, ragtime blues and dixieland jazz, tis time to reset the dial. bass heavy techno vs horror film atmospherics. love it.

friday session : after his massive breakthrough re soul/hip hop crossover as strickland banks, i never expected plan b to be of interest again. more fool me. picked this up a few months ago, and yeah, it's a brilliant slice of straight up hard hitting ukhh. should i see the film ?

friday session : a quick blast of some of this before i head out for social excess where local friends pretend they are in kraftwerk and/or lcd soundsystem. not a great album, but an interesting mix of hardcore hip hop and guitars.

thursday endzone session : the live album was kind of boring. has been a long time since i last heard it etc. this is prime era godfathers. i.e. the singles before they signed to cbs. late 80s garage rock-n-roll chaos sliced with a dose of self hatred.

thursday session endzone : following revelations and chaos via chats earlier have decided to give this classic era godfathers live album an airing.

thursday session : suspect that it's not good that the underworld album i enjoy the most is the one where they dragged in externals and made an album that covered ukg and dubstep styled chaos (appleblim !).

thursday session : my charity shop finds in 2026 have been pretty poor. however, this week, i got lucky. very very lucky. picked up this nu-era big room dance album for 50p. it is of course rather special.

thursday session : the dj format mixtape reminded me of this. released as a promo cd, so not a full release. there was a lot of it about for a while. still, the semi-legit promo mixtape cd was a far more interesting than something that gets posted on soundcloud and forgotten about.

thursday session : time to kick off the session properly after the previous false start. dj format giving it his all for his antidote mixtape release. absolutely nailed the brief as far as i can tell, i.e. make one of the best hip hop mixtapes ever. loving the wishful thinking re 'volume 1'

in other news : once again i got bored with an album that everyone but me loves. i know i should love it, given its an album built out of samples and got critical/popular love from everyone upon its release. i just got bored whenever i put it on. hey ho. back to sample heavy backpacker hip hop.

The turnaround from inception to release is unthinkable now for vinyl. Adamski bumped into Seal at a rave on NYE 1989. They recorded it Jan 27th. In the shops March 26th. Number 1 on May 6th. It took longer than that to get test pressing back for my last single.

wednesday session : kicking things off with this cos i could not be bothered to get up and turn the volume up on the amp and wanted something louder. also, it's a cracking album and just over half an hour long. i.e. no filler. bugger it, i still need to turn the amp up.

sunday session : yeah, still on the elvis thing. this is such a mad soundtrack. not just the usual well known tracks, but orginal elvis vocals mixed in amongst modern era hip hop productions. should not work. but it totally does

sunday session : time for a genre bouncing mixtape. going to let the soulsavers soundsystem take over the playlist for an hour and play the 2nd cd of this set that i don't know that well.

sunday session : groove swerve. internet is bad, full of nasty sh&t yeah. however, there're still nuggets of humanity. never seen this cd out in the wild. have wanted it forever. out of the blue, a 'sky fella posted about having a copy up for grabs. and 'lo it's in my collection. @bd6.bsky.social

sunday session : time for another hip hop connection mixtape. this time featuring cuts from the bad magic label. check the coverart and oggle at the excellence involved. such a cracking little label. this is a wonderful 30 mins oversight.

sunday session : remember when mark ronson was all over the hip hop thing ? his debut album had some big chaos on it, and he talked up rhymefest a lot. hence this hip hop connection 15 minute mixtape that's a lot better than you'd expect.

sunday session : time for some classic rawkus backpacker hip hop. i know it's dated as hell, but i care not. i still love dj styled hip hop with scratches vs beats-n-loops.

saturday session endzone : yeah, it's that album again.

saturday session : time for a mixtape. yeah, i know i drop this one on my timeline a lot, but there are reasons. mainly cos it is absolutely f%cking brilliant re the genre bouncing chaos.

saturday session : given a certain groove has kicked in at ireallylovemusic hq, rich from soulsavers and dj format have their work cut out to meet the levels of excellence that have been enjoyed so far this evening.

saturday session : when the urge to listen to classic rock riffs all scratched and looped up by a world class dj matched with some heavy beats, then there is only one real option. this album is one of the all time greatest mixes of rock and hip hop imho.

in others news : while going through the motions re lurgy excess, i.e. doing sweet f.a, i read a collection of stephen king short stories this week. i really really enjoyed 'rat'.
