Lindsey’s wildflower patch that’s been gradually growing is now starting to flower. It doesn’t look like it until you start to look closely. Good for the bees and insects.

Newhall Estate, Carlops (south of Edinburgh) we had the pleasure of being invited to a wedding last weekend. It was a fabulous event and a lovely place to spend the time.

It’s not often you see an aircraft high overhead lit up by the moon ! Odd conditions tonight. Near Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

Lovely calm crisp morning. Suns up and the Skylark is up early singing away up above.

New weather station up and running. The old one succumbed to far too much bad weather! Aberdeenshire has on average twice the amount of rain for January. It’s been at least 20 days since the last day it wasn’t raining. Finally today it’s stopped.

We were buzzed earlier this evening by the new Air Ambulance. It flew around the area for 15 mins. I think it was just a training flight. They are a charity and survive on donations. It’s not a cheep thing to run a helicopter. We pay £10 a month to them. you just never know when you might need them!

Nice walk up the hill behind the house last night. Still warm but the sun is going down earlier now.

Howick Hall near Alnwick, home of the Earl Grey (and the tea of the same name). Sadly he wasn’t a businessman and failed to trademark the name of Earl Grey tea so never made any money from it.

Brinkburn Mill, Northumberland. A Landmark Trust Self catering cottage. Lovely place to stay.

The petrol flail hasn’t been running right so giving it a service, new filters, plugs etc.It’s always been noisy. It looked like it was blowing past the exhaust gaskets. took the exhaust off to see what size the gaskets are. This is what I found. The exhaust gaskets have been badly fitted since new!

Had our dinner out on Friday evening to the lovely Sheep Heid Inn at Duddingston, Edinburgh. Reputedly Britain’s oldest pub. (c1360) not far away is the ancient Duddingston Kirk. Reported to have been built in 1124.

Managed to make it to the Turriff Show this afternoon. Some pictures of the Horse side of the event.

Afternoon out at the Echt Show, Aberdeenshire. Roasting hot (for here anyway) 28degC.

Some of this stuff has been planted in the field beside us. The internet says it’s a Phacelia something or other. Seems to be a sort of natural fertiliser they plough back in the soil. Anyway if you stand beside it there is a constant humming background noise of thousands of Bumblebees being busy !

There once was a Summer House. Now a skip of old timber and nails! it had succumbed to a dose of rabbititus! Ie undermined and sinking in. The little blighters had burrowed underneath it. Also it was rotten. Time for a change in the garden.
