Just watched
#Venus
dissappear behind the

. You could see the disk gradually reduce in size to a slither over a minute and then dissappear. Amazing. Here is my best pic. 🔭

Just observed the galaxy pair UGC 9650 and 9668 (Markarian 839) in my telescope. Both are about 170 million light years away in Ursa Minor. A pair of galaxies in the same field of view is always special.

My weather records for Bristol show June 2025 was similar in overall temperature to 1992 and 1993. 2025 nights were warmer than 1992 and 1993 but the average day time temperatures were higher in 1992 and 1993. All three were dry with 1992 the driest of all with 21mm of rain recorded.

Wow, well worth waking up for. My first ever view of Omega Centaurus. I used 15 x 70 binoculars from Madeira. A lovely bright oval shaped fuzzy ball in a pretty star field. Very obvious and mesmerising.

Waking up on Madeira I spent an hour cruising Scorpio with my binoculars. WOW it's beautiful. After a look at Antaries way up high and M4 I went right down and found a beautiful patch of stars. Turns out it is the Northern Jewel box. What an accurate description!

This evening I was able to observe a galaxy called Markarian 3 through my telescope. I have added two Internet images of the object for your interest. The galaxy is very active with jets of material being pushed out in to space. Amazing to be able to see something like this from my back garden!
