Finished reading A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid. Im a little late in posting about it. I enjoyed this book, but it shared a lot of themes with Blood Over Bright Haven, so I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't read them back to back. Overall, though, I would recommend this book. #booksky

Finished reading Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune. It was a good read. There were a couple of slow points, but I really enjoyed the exploration of grief. I also thought the characters were really well written. #booksky

Finished Cemetary Boys by Aiden Thomas. I could not put this down. It was predictable in the best way possible. The clues were subtle but still noticeable. There was also a clear magic system and great characters who you couldn't help but root for. #booksky

Im reading Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore, and there's a character trying to put together the first dictionary, which reminded me of a My Favorite Murder episode about how the English dictionary was made. It was very interesting, and I recommend looking into it.

As im nearing the end of my edits, I did a deep dive into next steps and am reminded all over again there is so much I have to learn about publishing and the different kinds of editing, like beta vs developmental. Finished Fire by Kristin Cashore. I really enjoy stories that exist in the same world and build on the previously established world building. I enjoyed the plot development as well as the characters.

Im editing chapter 18 of Merrow and Nerissa is taking a shower (not the first time shes washed up) and I only just thought of the fact that having lived underwater for most of her life, there would be some sort of novelty to using water to clean yourself. Time to go back and edit again. #amediting

Finished Graceling by Kristin Cashore yesterday. I loved it. I don't know why I waited until now to read it. I appreciated that this book spent a decent amount of time in the resolution. I feel like a lot of books I've read recently rush through it, so this was a nice change of pace. #booksky

Finished The Last Blood Carver by Vanessa Le last week. I really enjoyed it, but im a little 50/50 on the ending. I'll have to read the next book to see where it takes it. The magic system was a highlight for me. You can really see the author's background in human biology in it. #booksky

Finished We Can Be Heroes by Kyrie McCauley yesterday. It was a super fast read, which was nice. The characters were well rounded, and the fantasy and real-life problems were balanced for the heavy topics it was covering. This was a very good read. #booksky

Im still very much enjoying this series, but I'm beginning to struggle a little with the over-arching plot progression which is slow. The individual books are fun reads, but besides the characters are more stand alone. #booksky

My NYCMidnight flash fiction challenge story is submitted! First time getting drama as a genre and had a lot of fun with it, and by that I mean I wrote a really depressing story. Hope everyone else is having success with their stories as well!
