This is so important to state openly, and I don’t think people understand that this point. Our operating systems haven’t updated to the way things are now, so they don’t realize how antiquated the concept of “real work” is.

“Benji, why do you ask for support? Why not do real work?” Over 20 years, I’ve done it all, from pushing carts to leading teams. I was never doxxed or threatened until I did this. This is real work. With real stakes. But the real question is why you think you’re entitled to free Black labor.

I often wish to say that Republican men have the emotional maturity of an IKEA side table, but I don’t because that’s a really mean thing to say about an IKEA side table. At least the table doesn’t come apart at the idea of being drilled by men.

What I hope we take away from this moment is that community care can happen whether there’s an election or not. You don’t have to wait every four years to look after your neighbor. Tap into your community’s needs. If you’re thinking of it, a group probably exists. Dig in. See what you find.

The same church folk that are celebrate people losing SNAP are the same ones who want to adopt your babies. They could fight for better so families can stay together & for benefits to remain, but then they wouldn’t have a Black baby to parade in front of you to further their fight against abortion.

An unexpectedly wonderful feeling is being at a party with a bunch of people in their 20’s who are stunned that you’re 37. God, I love a “Black don’t crack” moment.

The fact that so many white people don’t know that Black & brown people call non-blood relatives “auntie” & “uncle” is why white people have the most to learn about collective liberation. Nonwhite people find family anywhere. White people say “family values”, but they don’t even like each other.

“I have Black friends and they’re not saying any of what you say about racism” Yes they are. They’re just not telling you. Liberal, GOP, or leftist, anytime a Black person shares experience with racism with white people, it’s a tightrope walk. Some of you aren’t as safe as you think you are.

Having been homeless and resorting to making one packet of ramen stretch for an entire day or more, I am not interested in what you have to say about the homeless or hungry if you’ve never been through it. Paying taxes does not entitle you to decide who gets their needs met and who doesn’t.

It’s been amazing to see everyone jumping into action & making sure folks are being fed given what’s happening with SNAP benefits. That said, even if the benefits return, the need will still be there. Will we still show up? Is it still a handout, or does it not matter now because you need it too?

It’s interesting how many people are progressive until it’s time for progress. What if I told you solving homelessness was about building homes, not more shelters? What if I told you that SNAP benefits exist because an equitable system doesn’t? Do you want solutions or a performative band aid?

A lot of white mainline Democrats are more interested in good branding than good policy. This is why the bar is so low. They’ll take anyone who isn’t Trump even if they deliver his policies because it arrives in a package they like. Some of us can’t afford to overlook N*zi tattoos for a win.

Being homeless changed so much about how I see the world. I became a more vigilant person. I became more committed to speaking up than I ever had been before. But I didn’t need homelessness to believe everyone should have what they need to live. And I want to know why some of you do.

At some point we should talk about the term “working class” and the quiet weaponizing of the term. Politicians treat unhoused people like dirt but say they’re fighting for the working class. That is, people who work. The ones they think matter. Meanwhile, half of all homeless people have jobs.

All this talk about SNAP shows me how committed we are to knowing as little about our neighbors as possible yet how quickly we exploit power dynamics based in privilege to control them the second we are inconvenienced. How do you call for a general strike but don’t want your neighbors to have food?

There are people in America who are angrier that people have access to SNAP benefits than they are that their tax dollars fund genocide. You’re just mad because SNAP levels the playing field & you think you deserve food more than poor people not realizing you’re poor too. Holy entitlement, Batman.

Apropos of nothing, it kinda blows my mind that polyamorous people didn’t come up with the app name “Hinge” first. Feels like such a missed opportunity.

At a moment when SNAP is getting cut for 41 million Americans and groceries are almost prohibitively expensive, I had better not see anything about financial literacy classes. Financial literacy classes for the poor implies that poverty is their fault. They don’t need classes. They need finances!

I wonder how many things we’re gonna sacrifice at the altar of decorum. The US has always been bad at shooting it straight. So let’s shoot it straight. The President of the United States is a rapist, government is covering for pedophiles, & our tax money funds genocide. Is that straight enough?

We’ve really gotta stop blaming our phones for problems capitalism created. The reason community is hard is not because we’re on our phones too much. It’s because even though we’re wired for connection, we were all raised to be consumers. And under capitalism, even love is transactional.

“Cutting SNAP will save money” We spend more on the Department of War than the next ten countries combined. Giving cops and the military less money to wage proxy wars will save money you can use to feed people. Not making sure people have what they need is a policy decision.

Pro-life rhetoric is so disingenuous is because of how it obscures the concept of choice. A choice is the ability to say yes OR NO to something, but they act like pro-choice means “automatic yes.” Simply, pro-lifers want to take choice from women because they want to control women. That’s it.

“Praise god! The family unit is coming back! Take that, libs! Death to feminism!” -Conservative women who are independently wealthy and can choose to have a family specifically because of feminism

“Leftists need to be realistic, there is no perfect candidate” Wanting candidates that don’t have N*zi tattoos isn’t asking for perfection. Wanting candidates that don’t support genocide isn’t asking for perfection. This is bare minimum stuff. Stop settling & calling it wisdom.

A sitting US President releasing an AI generated video of defecation on American citizens would be surprising if this weren’t the same person who suggested that injecting Clorox into your bloodstream could stop COVID.

A white female preacher is going viral for saying bringing up skin color is “ethnic idolatry”… The Azuza St. Revivals in the early 1900’s were denounced by white pastors for its desegregation. The SBC was created to protect white slave owning pastors. Seems pretty clear who the idolator is.

Welfare in the US began in 1935 in response to the Depression. White families were given more aid than Black families, if the Black family got aid at all. Historically, there have been more white people on welfare than anyone. And soon, many who pushed for others to have less won’t have any.

One of the best parts of deconstruction is arriving at a place where you don’t care if Christians think you were “never a real Christian”. Oh, the freedom of realizing how inconsequential that opinion is to my life. I don’t care if you put me down because I see the version of god you lift up.

I’ve been watching a lot of true crime lately surrounding corrupt cops. And pretty much every time, the cops end up corrupt because the job itself doesn’t pay enough. Not defending cops here in the slightest, but just imagine how much crime we’d stop if we just paid people livable wages.

So, AWS went down and so did most of the internet. And everyone just moved on. This is part of why we are where we are. Everything we see and hear is owned by maybe five people, and it doesn’t feel like that’s raising enough eyebrows.

The reason voting Democrat in the last election wouldn’t change much in the grand scheme is because mainline Democrats & Republicans serve the same god. So long as the Dems serve capitalism over the people, there will always be room for fascism to rise. And Project 2025 would become Project 2029.

The idea of someone being mad at a Palestinian flag flown at a No Kings protest lets me know that some of us are okay with kings so long as they get to be king. That is, there are many who only dislike oppression because they’re tired of waiting their turn to be the oppressor.

I just wanna say that some of y’all have mounted a more effective war against “6,7” than you have against active genocide, and that should bother you. Young people are inheriting a burning world, and you’re attacking the one bit of joy they have because you don’t understand. Let them have this.

I just watched a member of Gen Z say they didn’t see a lot of their generation at the No Kings protest because they have yet to see protest turn into tangible results in their lifetime. Gen Z was born between 1997-2012. All of us who are of older generations should be listening to that.

Extolling nonviolence is a slap in the face to Black and brown people for whom change was impossible without violence. It’s a slap in the face when the US exists because of violence towards Black & brown people. The only reason some of y’all can claim nonviolence is because Marsha threw a brick.

Saying you are nonviolent will not protect you from the violence of the state. Saying you “don’t break the law” doesn’t matter when the law is whatever the state says it is. That’s not wisdom. At best, it’s naïveté. And being naive about this has killed more people than a bullet ever could.

Here is why political conversation is so difficult in America. In the last year, many have been quick to blame third party voters for the rise of Trump, but they only account for 2% of the overall vote. Meanwhile, the majority of white voters in America voted for Trump three times with no smoke.

As a rule, I’m personally not big on “I told you so’s”, but I would like to know how many more bombs need to get dropped on innocent Palestinians before folks realize that a certain country never cared about the hostages.

I sometimes wonder if evangelicals realize the way they talk about queerness & vaccines completely works against their concept of the core goodness of god. So, God created the heavens & earth, loves his creation, but drew the line at queer people & doctors? They assume God is as petty as they are.

A lot of leftists forget they were the liberals they criticize before someone showed them a different way of thinking. Are you willing to be that person? The No Kings Protest is inspiring people who need to feel inspired right now, and that matters! Let’s try to center that more than disdain.
