Fact of the matter is, if racism isn’t a non-negotiable for you, chances are you’re a racist too. It’s not people in the middle of a field with hoods that are the most dangerous. It’s the ones who say “yeah, I know he left a burning cross in your front yard, but he just loves spirited debate.”

I think the best way to honor Charlie Kirk’s memory is to ask those defending him what parts of him they think are honorable. “Is it his anti-immigration stance? Do you too get nervous when you see a Black pilot?” Not enough people are being forced to own their racism right now. Let’s change that.

As someone who spent years in white evangelical spaces, the Church’s response to Charlie Kirk highlights how Black people are treated in these spaces. One told me Black people didn’t experience racism. Another said Obama wasn’t really Black because he went to Harvard. I’m just saying, it tracks.

My ability to make content is not separate from my reality as a Black man. Based on the last week alone, if I were hanged from a tree tomorrow, a nonzero number of you would try harder to find common ground with my murderer than justice for me and mine. And I have no idea what to do with that.

We need to understand that you & I have never experienced real democracy in our lifetime. A democracy is by the people, for the people. The United States Government operates independently of a need to serve people. To say we’re “saving democracy” is like trying to give CPR to a cadaver.

“They can’t do that, it’s illegal and unjust!” A man provoked an insurrection and still won the presidency. You think these people care about the law or justice? What incentive do they have to be legal or just if it doesn’t matter that they attempted to literally overthrow the government?

Dr. King’s family campaigned for 15 years to get his birthday recognized as a National Holiday. 15 YEARS. The United States Senate just voted unanimously to give a day of remembrance to Charlie Kirk, a white supremacist, in a week. ONE WEEK. This is America.

I feel like I need to remind you that it’s not democrat vs republican but wealthy ruling class vs everyone else. This is why no politician is coming to save you. They’re already rich and thus not financially incentivized to help you in any way. Fascism is profitable. Class consciousness, y’all.

As someone whose legal citizenship required the foundational document of this nation to change, part of me finds it fascinating to watch white people see what it’s like to see constitutionality fail them for the first time. I’m not gloating. I just hope y’all see we weren’t joking this whole time.

The way all of this is happening in defense of Charlie Kirk, you would’ve thought he healed people, fed the poor and died for the sins of the world. Then again, if any of these people actually met Jesus, they’d currently be seeing if they could get him fired from being a carpenter.

What I want everyone to understand is that we were never gonna vote our way out of this. They were already criminalizing homelessness before Trump got elected. There was nothing stopping Project 2025 from becoming Project 2029. A stolen land built by stolen people. This was inevitable.

So, to recap… Trey Reed was found hanging from a tree, but the police told his family he was found in his dorm room. Why lie if there’s no foul play? And if they’d lie to his parents, why wouldn’t they lie to the public? Trey Reed was lynched. Please get out of my face with the BS.

The evangelical response to Charlie Kirk dying is the exact reason so many people have deconstructed. No one is offended by the gospel, and it isn’t because Jesus isn’t attractive. Shoot, Jesus doesn’t have a chance to be attractive when his people so willingly attach themselves to harmful things.

The Charlie Kirk thing really highlights how many Christians think believing in Jesus inherently makes them good people. Bro, you’re not losing followers because you proclaim Christ. You’re losing followers because you would’ve proclaimed segregationists if they were husbands and fathers.

What a lot of people still aren’t catching is that being able to “overlook” racism doesn’t make you progressive or even a good person. It makes you unsafe and complicit. Community doesn’t overlook racism. It confronts it. You can’t heal a divide if you’re content to ignore why the divide exists.

It’s been fascinating to watch 20 year old white kids tell me to “stop being a victim” like I wasn’t racially profiled before they were born. Like I wasn’t fighting this fight when they were in onesies. Please go read a book. Or at least go have conversations you actually have the range for.
