People don't understand what is meant by "literacy" and the "literacy crisis". Literacy isn't just not being able to physically read. Many people know how to see words and say words, which is basic reading. Literacy is being able to infer the correct information from what you read.

Are we really that unaware of the military-industrial complex and how the US has gleefully destroyed and destabilized the SWANA region? Is it more soothing to have a clear external villain? Have we simply never moved past the myth that Jews control our government?

The US's whole entire economic policy rests around keeping the rest of the world but particularly Latin America, East Africa, and Southwest Asia in a constant state of economic subjugation and military terror so we can exploit their labor and resources. Israel is an excellent source of terror.

Like we keep going "why does this country have such strong control over American politics that we give it so much money and support?" It doesn't! Israel is a vassal state of the US, not the other way around. And it's a vassal state that's doing its job.

Part of why the discourse around Israel is borked is that the US is so invested in not admitting the ways we (where by "we" I mean weapons / oil manufacturers and the politicians they pay, not really anyone else) directly and delightedly benefit from having Israel run trampling around the region.
