This is a really good exercise to do in general. People often do this with Lit; they try to implement their own base class for custom elements and quickly realize they’re re-implementing Lit. I recommend people do this, its a great way to learn and understand the tradeoffs of an implementation

Preact also has a solid track record on breaking new ground on ideas like this, obviously. Their codebase is lean enough to iterate quickly, so I would also not be too surprised if this idea made its way into Fresh. Any major tools exploring this pattern could unlock some huge potential!

In fact, I'd really urge someone to investigate this and pick it up, MAINLY because it *is* a really fun problem space to work on, where not much investigation/development by major (meta) frameworks is happening (as far as I'm aware!)

One of my projects was displayed as "slow" in a marketing-y "<x> is faster than these projects", which is interesting because the performance of mine is fine, and over 5 years have heard no complaints of users wanting/needing it to be faster 😅
