While women with high body mass index (BMI) and hypogonadism (presenting with lack of periods) are often labelled as having polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), there appear to be mechanistic differences in PCOS, as opposed to high BMI-related secondary hypogonadism.

It is the national fertility awareness week in the UK and it is marked to raise awareness, challenge perceptions and support causes related to fertility awareness and help.

Menopause transition will potentially affect 50% or more of the population, however education on this topic for undergraduate medical students appears to be limited. We are conducting a short survey to gain better understanding of the extent of menopause education in medical schools in the UK.

NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) issued its first guideline on menopause diagnosis and management in November, ten years ago (2015). It was long overdue.

Thank you Carolyn Harris MP for the opportunity to attend the launch of report summary and recommendations from the Menopause APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) report looking at how women and people from marginalised communities experience menopause care in the UK.

Everyone’s menopause journey is unique. The age at menopause varies (could be between 45-55 or premature, early, late) and so also whether it is natural or induced (medical/surgical). About 80 percent experience significant symptoms and about a third have severe debilitating ones.

It was wonderful to meet Baroness Gillian Merron (Minister for Women’s Health and Mental Health and Member of the House of Lords) at the Killick Street Health Centre today on the occasion of announcement of bringing menopause to routine health checks on the NHS.

It is good to see our findings published. We presented these as a poster at the British Menopause Society conference earlier this year. We started with this small survey to capture the experiences of menopause care in cancer survivors in the UK last year.

Here is a review that explores migraine through the different reproductive stages of a woman’s life: puberty and menstruation, pregnancy, and throughout the menopausal transition, with a focus on oestrogen and its interplay with CGRP.
