I'm putting together a lecture on the caardiovascular system and one of the learning objectives is "4. Health​. Discuss common cardiovascular diseases, risk factors, and how lifestyle changes (diet, exercise) keep the system healthy" and boy of boy do not question my expertise on one in particular.

In about 25% of people, amiodarone increases liver enzymes and I am apparently in that 25%. Today I learned that they will keep an eye on things but that if they do end up taking me off it, it will stick around for quite a long time as the drug has a half life of 55 whopping days. Yowzers. 😳

Happy to report that the ICD test went just fine. They did speed up my heart using electricity and that was not pleasant - felt like when the dentist injects lidocaine. They also set me up with a remote monitoring doo-da, which is coolio. And the resident cardiologist was 🔥.

✔️ Appointment #1 done. That was a long echocardiogram - 1.5 hours! As I was lying there I was again overcome with gratefulness for the Canadian health care system. 🇨🇦 Appointment #2 - test of the ICD - this afternoon.

Please think unicorn and rainbow thoughts. This morning I have an echo and am hoping my ejection fraction has improved. 🤞 💔
