This week & next we're working w/Project Education Felixstowe showing kids all about rail travel. For some it was their 1st time on a train. They learnt about safety/screens/tickets/doors/the conductor. @ Westerfield they had time @ The Railway Inn to play crazy golf; it was then back to Felixstowe!

Last week, we arranged for 28 7/8/9 years olds from Saxmundham Primary to go by train to #Woodbridge to have a morning @ the Longshed Museum. A lovely bunch of folks took part in our free station walk this past Friday! 46 humans/2 dogs made the trek from #Lowestoft to Oulton Broad South; many continued to Carlton Marshes café. Many stations on the East Suffolk Lines are adorned with Daffodils; Ipswich station is no exception. You can find them in the memorial garden on the island platform (3/4). The Community Rail Partnership has provided funding for the lovely flowers you'll now also see at the buffer stop on Platform 1.

Wonderful Daffodils carpet the station garden at Westerfield. They were planted by Sandy several years back when she became the station adopter there and transformed the space from scrub and nettles to the lovely scene you see today. Aren't they fantastic?! @suffolksnaps.bsky.social

We teamed up w/Greater Anglia to take 9 cubs from the 9th/31st Ipswich Scout Group to Stratford to have a go on the train simulator, learning about train driving and railway operations. Many thanks to Mark Robson, GA’s Driver Trainer and Simulator Manager for making it an unforgettable experience!

A mosaic roundel was unveiled today @ Westerfield station. Adopter Sandy Burn came up with the idea. Entitled 'Pollinators,' it features a butterfly/wasp/hoverfly/bumblebee/beetle/moth & is inspired by wildlife seen in the station garden. It's made of old crockery/tiles. @communityrail.bsky.social

What a great day out for 30 Ukrainian refugees as we hopped on the train at #Ipswich to Visit Felixstowe! Santa & Community Rail Officer Thalia handed out head bobbles and mince pies on board. At #Felixstowe we met the Mayor, enjoyed skating, bouncing wires, bouncy cats, snow disco, dj and more.
