Most Thursdays I join a drink and draw group at a local comics and board game shop. It was started by this comic artist, Bob Layton. Anyway, each week he has a theme and I’m told that this week it’s ‘monster heros’. Now in my defense, no one wrote that down.

It really can’t be emphasized enough: reposts help a LOT. They are genuine, REAL support. This isn’t Twitter, where links out, images, and self-promo get buried. Word-of-mouth matters here, it makes a genuine difference.

Explaining how you plagiarized (turning in/ claiming someone/something else’s work as your own) does not prevent it from being plagiarism. I’m not saying all AI is plagiarism, but simply slapping your name on the output of the machine is.

My wife was unfamiliar with TikTok so I pulled it up to show her. I don’t use it because ick (whatever algorithms are supposed to find me what I like did not work quickly enough for me to care) and what does it serve me first? Some Trump meme. Yeah, not convincing me to hang around.

So I go to a drink and draw most Thursdays. I did not finish my piece but here’s a WIP for it anyway. The theme was ‘snake’ in honor of the new year, so of course I went with Snake, Snake, Serverus Snake. Hopefully I’ll finish it next week.

The weight of responsibilities versus the desire to just make art. Great way to feel guilt no matter what. Unfortunately that means procrastination leads to just as much guilt. Gaaaah. Anyway, went to an exhibit about Austrian artists 100 years ago. Need to get back to arting.

Another in my Charon’s Obol series. This painting is based on a coin of Alexander the Great dressed as Hercules (hence the lion skin). King of the Greeks, remember death!

Played Dungeon Crawl Classics for the first time last weekend. Took some notes and partially illustrated them. Not really my style, but I wouldn’t say no to playing again.
