It’s very funny to me that this post got the attention it did compared to my usual thoughts about video games. This was less a post about moral superiority of getting off a few platforms and more me just informing people who interact with me where they can still find me.

I finally got both TikTok and Twitter off my phone with accounts deleted. YouTube, BlueSky, Instagram and Discord are the only platforms that I’m still active on.

Never before has such a short piece of media devastated me so utterly and completely.

I’m playing every Final Fantasy game this year back to back to back in 2026 and I made my way through the first one this week. It is the Pixel Remaster version so I know it’s not the original but that’s what is most convenient. Excited to talk about this one and dive into FF2!

The second game I finished up do 2026 is Mario Kart World. It’s a well made game, it plays like a Mario Kart should and even tries some new gimmicks to set itself apart from its predecessor which I can’t help but compare it to.

You know. I played it when it came out. It clearly had some flaws. There were good times too. But knowing I can never revisit it if I wanted to write about it or do an analysis piece in the future just doesn’t feel right.

Something something not about organized labor. Something something shareholder value.

The Lord of the Rings audio book narrated by Andy Serkis is an absolute delight.

To work on writing and design in mini bits I decided to make little review graphics for every game I play this year. First game of 2026 was Donkey Kong Bananza, a delightful DK adventure that sheds the “Country” style of gameplay for the Odyssey/Wild model of open exploration and reward.

One of the coolest things I’ve gotten to be a part of period and I’m honored Rick chose me to contribute to this series of episodes.

I know this game was a disaster but one kind thing I can say about it was that it absolutely NAILED the feeling of flight. Very few games I’ve played that had flight have had it at the same feel, power and weight that Anthem did.

Now we just need the AI bubble to crash the economy and we’ll have speedrun the 2000s within a year of one presidency.

I didn’t play nearly as many games in 2025 as I did in previous years but what I did play was a great mix of backlogged classics, old favorites, and highly anticipated new releases. I finished my long running KH project, released my most viewed piece of content ever, and grew my family by one.
