I know that we truly don’t have any clear definitions of what constitutes AGI, but here’s a random thought: Forget AI that takes everyone’s jobs. What if there was AI that could fix Daikatana? Can Daikatana even be fixed? And if AI could do it, would that mean AGI achieved?

In some ways, I feel like LLMs are a thought-provoking simulation of an ADHD brain. They go on tangents. They make random connections between disparate-seeming topics. When I build something involving a sequence of steps, they tend to have a hard time “seeing” the steps—they’re kind of time blind.

Lol I’m not sure how, but after a few days of fast and furious vibe coding, Ghostty (terminal emulator that’s engineered to be snappy and lightweight) was taking up over 1gb of RAM. Sometimes life has ways of telling you to take a break, I guess.

I just saw some “Fresh Scent Vinegar” in the cleaning aisle grocery store and immediately thought “I KNOW WHAT VINEGAR SMELLS LIKE! You can’t fool me.”

I remember over a year ago I noticed a study implying that while PMs were less impacted by layoffs than other roles, they shouted the loudest about being impacted more than any other role. I speculate that maybe the PMs doing that were actually projecting what they would do onto others.

So, I just stayed up writing technical specs for a React component project with Claude Code. Eventually, I asked it to imagine it’s a UX Engineer and review the specs, and it straight up said it looks like these specs were written by a backend engineer. Amazing. Like… how did it not do that before?

I got GPT-5 to kind of agree with me that the idea that all humans have worth regardless of any form of external validation is at least partially solipsistic. It even went on to say the notion of shared human values are a cultural consensus hallucination. Anyway. I promise I’m fun at parties. 🙃

So, funny story. I used ChatGPT to help me hastily paraphrase the “there is no spoon” quote from The Matrix for a LinkedIn comment yesterday. And as a former student journalist / “kinda trained” writer, its punctuation bugged me. It overused ellipses. I replaced one ellipsis with an em-dash.

Prediction: The push for everyone to become a manager for agentic AI teams will fall apart when companies realize that the cost of LLM tokens makes team meetings cost exponentially more than meetings with humans. That’s just math. 😜

When I see a demo or advert that shows someone using AI to book a flight, book a hotel, etc., I stop and ask: “How many details are being skipped here?” Are we booking just any old room? Any old flight?
