This story really does not capture just how bitter and divisive Andy Cuomo was, even in defeat. I heard part of his speech (can’t call it a concession, since Cuomo didn’t call Mamdani to concede), and he basically doubled down on promising a hellscape under Mayor-Elect Mamdani.

I’ll admit I didn’t expect a contemporary election where America would be saying to Minneapolis and Seattle, “Hey, keep up!”

This—and pretty much every single comment—are the best comedy sketch I’ve seen all year.

Watching NYC results & while Zohran is still hovering around 50% of the vote, it would not even be a question if it weren’t for the Staten Island vote (where Cuomo & Sliwa are both ahead of Mamdani). No shade on SI, but I’m recalling that Giuliani would never have been elected mayor without it.

The New York City Board of Elections just issued an unexpected update before polls close at 9pm that says turnout has now topped 2 million voters. That makes this the highest participation in an NYC mayoral election since the 1960s.

I have to assume that @chrislhayes.bsky.social’s insistence on wearing the same tie almost every single day is either a secret code or some form of not-that-subtle rebellion.

What’s odd abt Trump’s late 👍 to Cuomo is that Trump hates being on-record endorsing losers. Trump has stayed away from the VA & NJ governor races, for instance. Is this Trump hoping to join Cuomo in post-election Lost Cause-ism, or is he trying to justify action against NYC as an “I told you so?”

I usually think of the end of the baseball season as the unofficial start of winter, and with the World Series going the distance this year, I consider my summer-lovin’ self lucky. But, with the end of Daylight Savings Time coming the same day as Game 7, I am clinging to every minute I have outside.

I’ve been bombarded all evening with ultra-negative pro-Cuomo ads. Some are hard to differentiate from a South Park parody, but all are nakedly divisive, sewing the seeds for post-election lost cause-ism, where Cuomo will claim he was stabbed in the back by Sliwa & ppl who aren’t “true New Yorkers.”

Could the biggest takeaway from World Series Game 6 be that Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has finally learned Blake Treinen isn’t going to “get right” this season?
