This feels like an attempt by landlord interests to trump (pun intended) Mamdani’s promise to limit rent increases. This resignation won’t change tonight’s vote, but it will try to paint the mayor being anti-“mom & pop” landlord & adds a talking point to an expected lawsuit to block a rent freeze.
