For those of you familiar with “that big scene” early on in this arc… Because of time constraints with my schedule, we had to fit the entire episode of Subaru’s lines in a single day to meet production deadline. So I brought tea and throat saline w/ me…and recorded the entire thing across 6 hours.

Y’all I cooked so hard I apparently had this same idea in mind when I was commissioning my print for Season 2 of Re:Zero, this is seriously unreal The fragments? The forward-stare?! THE VILLAIN(?) AT THE TOP CENTER? My theme was literally “cracked mirror about to shatter” WHAT WERE THE ODDS???

So please take this promise and assurance from me. Whether it’s been pausing streams to maintain my voice, or ruining it over a MARATHON 6-hour session so we could finish an episode on time before I traveled back out (yes, this already happened)… I will do everything in my power to do him justice.

Season 4 of Re:Zero has officially begun releasing on #Crunchyroll, now as a SIMULDUB in both JP and ENG - and with it I can announce my return as Subaru’s English voice. But beyond that… this character/series has now become closer to myself, and my reality, in ways I can’t even share with you yet.

I’m gonna be honest - the pressure’s starting to get to me. This show just keeps raising the bar so much, & clearly Kobayashi is too. I hear nonstop about how peak this arc is, & worry I’ll either fall short or try TOO hard as a result and err on the other side instead. I just want to do it right.

Legitimately: after I got home the day I recorded this scene, I was so emotionally exhausted that my eyes couldn’t stay open without effort. So I just took a long afternoon nap!

Screaming is vocally intense, but crying? And crying to specific timing? God is that difficult. One of my proudest aspects as Subaru is that I allowed myself to sound “gross” when he cries - and messy, stilted, and even a little shaken. It’s how *I* sound when crying, & that’s what made it natural.
