Could and expanded BRICS group undermine an already weakened G20? Could a BRICS reserve currency have legs? Lots of questions on the horizon.

South Africa will host the leaders summit and next steps will likely be decided in August 2023. Some countries have “applied” to join and some are “interested”... If some or all of these countries join, what does the BRICS group become?

Are the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) fair-weather friends or planning to expand with purpose? Discussions underway that 20 new countries with ~1.5B total population might join?
