Carpathospinosus propheticus is a prehistoric species of spikefish found in Polish rocks dating to the Oligocene. It lived in what was the late Tethys Sea, and was related to the Triacanthodinae, a subfamily that contains most extant spikefish.

Today, I had the honor of listening to and getting to meet Neil Shubin, one of the co-discoverers of Tiktaalik roseae!! While listening to the talk, I took the opportunity to learn about its unique bone structure and illustrated this sketch! Even got it signed!

"Reigning Titan" The largest marine reptile currently known, Ichthyotitan is a shastasaurid ichthyosaur from the Late Triassic. Known from 2 partial lower jaw bones, indicate that it may have grown up to 82 ft/25m or even larger, and it fed on larger prey, hunting like orcas.

"Lord of the Lake" Gaiasia jennyae is the largest known genus of stem-tetrapod that has digits. Found from Namibian rocks dating to the early Permian, it habitated in cold lakes in Southern Gondwana as an apex predator, hunting fish and other tetrapods.

So I rediscovered a long-cancelled project of mine that I actually had plans to make a webtoon out of in high school: PnGA.Online, which was basically...SAO but The Isle. Spent, like, 2-ish years on it before dropping it because it became too big for me. Also because COVID.

The four sophont groups in a fantasy paleoworld that I conceptualized, inspired by the Avatar movies and Planet of the Apes. Four species, all with their own cultures and histories.

For #SharkWeek2024, the shark of choice is Dracopristis hoffmanorum (Hoffman’s dragon shark), or as it’s more commonly known, the “Godzilla shark”. Here we see a female, hiding on the seafloor of a shallow lagoon at night from a hungry Glikmanius, amongst some crinoids.

Art of the new reconstruction to the saber-sorry, spiketooth salmon (Oncorhynchus rastrosus), now as a planktivorous salmonid who develop their signature spikes to dig nests and defend against predators. Both males and females have these teeth too, with males' being bigger!

A sketch of one of the most bizarre chondrichthyans, Aquilolamna milarcae, or the eagle shark, from Late Cretaceous Mexico. Originally assigned as a lamniform (related to great whites and makos), it's now uncertain of this animal's placement.

Cretoxyrhina, also known as the Ginsu shark, is a genus of lamniform shark from the mid-late Cretaceous found worldwide, but is famously known from the Western Interior Seaway. As a top-order carnivore, it likely fed on large fish, other sharks, and large marine reptiles.

Sketches of two of the new monsters announced for Monster Hunter Wilds: Rey Dau and Lala Barina. Two of my favorites so far and from what clips I've seen of gameplay, they look like an absolute blast.

Redo's of my speculative South Korean paleofauna mini-project, now under the name "Spekorea", or in Korean "한국 공룡 반타지" (한공반) As of now, only these three are done as I've sort of lost motivation to continue. The project isn't over, though.

A recently announced on the prehistoric shark Ptychodus revealed it's formerly unknown body plan to actually resemble that of lamniform sharks. Ptychodus was a durophage, hunting hard-shelled organisms such as ammonites, and lived from the mid to late Cretaceous worldwide.

Part 1 of a short speculative project I'm working on! South Korea has quite the collection of indeterminate material and only 2 confirmed genera, so I thought I'd try making new taxa based on what little evidence there is!

“The Suchomimus of Jurassic World are found in the Cretaceous Cruise. Compared to other carnivores, they are rather seclusive. However they defend their territory at any cost. The only known animals to be compatible with are ankylosaurs and Dimetrodon.” #JurassicWorld

“Nicknamed ‘Beta’, the third of the IBRIS Project assets, this Achillobator is part of an in-training experimental security force in Jurassic World. Despite being characterized as ‘paranoid’ by trainer Tim Murphy, she has the most potential.”

“This T.rex is the son of the ‘Buck’ and ‘Doe’ found in Site B. Brought in as an attraction for the new Jurassic World, he is the largest carnivore on the island. For now.”

“The Chase Is On” A school of Rhamphoichthys flee from a pair of Megapterygius. For the mosasaurs, this is a Christmas miracle. For the fish, it’s a nightmare.

“The Lonely Kings” Under the moonlight, a Tutcetus rayanensis swims along the surface. His friend, a Perucetus colossus, sleepily watches, content in having a friend in the lonely sea.

"Binding Starfall" A Stelladens mysteriosus takes a breath of crisp evening air. Below her, a Jormungandr walhallaensis swims by, uninterested in the smaller mosasaur.

“Oh Hell No” A terrified Turnersuchus hingleyae swims for its life from an unexpectedly curious Lorrainosaurus keileni, who was more wondering what it found. However the pliosaur is getting dangerously close to shore.

“A Shallow Grave” A Maghriboselache mohamezanei, a strange chondrichthyan, travels through time and space to hunt a young Strigilodus tollesonae, a type of petalodont.

“When Oddities Meet” Starting off my set of PaleoRewind2023 art pieces with some Triassic marine oddities: Prosaurosphargis yingzishanensis and Honghesaurus longicaudalis.
