North Carolina! Congress is pushing a bill called the #SAVEact. They say it’s “about stopping voter fraud” and would require “documented proof of citizenship”. What this bill actually does is make it harder for millions of eligible Americans to register. Here's what you need to know. 🧵🪡

The NCSBE is discussing how recounts are handled at the county and statewide level, including machine-tabulated and hand-eye recounts Since the NC Senate 26th district spans across 2 counties, if an additional recount is requested, it would be overseen by the NCSBE Meeting is now adjourned #ncpol

NCSBE IS BACK: Jay DeLancy has proposed a rule change related to the photo ID exception form, which allows voters to still cast a ballot if they dont have an ID on hand. HIS ASK: To mandate a license or SSN # be provided. If that number doesn't validate, then the ballot would be rejected. #ncpol

If the proposed rules are approved, they'd go into effect June 1st. A meeting will now be rescheduled for April. Chair Carmon states, "Over 15k commenters made comment, which is well over the alleged persons this rule would be addressing. Please keep that in mind when discussing approval." #ncpol

On March 9, there were 500 comments were submitted to the NCSBE, with over 100 written emails, and dozens of hand delivered comments, By March 16, an additional 15k comments were submitted via the online portal. Under general statute, the NCSBE must fully consider all the comments received #ncpol
