I tried a vegetarian huarache for dinner with @flinttheraccoon.bsky.social before we went to El Rio for furry bar night last night. It is basically a large tlacoyo: a thin pancake of masa harina with a bean filling. I've made tlacoyos before and was curious to try this!

Among various places in the city that I went to with critters yesterday was Amoeba Music, where I found a couple CDs from two of my favorite bands.

Had a tasty lunch with Flint and a group of other creatures yesterday, including biscuits and gravy and cornbread with jalapeno jam. The jalapeno jam was sweet with a little heat and it paired nicely with the subtle sweetness of the cornbread.

Went to Cupertino furmeet yesterday to hang out with Silvius, who was wearing some seasonal accessory as usual.

Mac and cheese with smoked herring and paprika Flint raccoon showed me this dish that he made earlier this month and I had to try it out myself.

I enjoyed the rain drops in my face while riding around this afternoon. I also liked the matching colors in this moment that I stopped on a bridge.

At the beginning of the year I brought home a jar of fermented stuffing from Fox Tale in San Jose. This evening I got some rye bread and pan-toasted it and essentially recreated one of the meals I've had at Fox Tale (during FC26, in fact). All it needs is the grand fir mocktail I often get.

First time being a cross fox at FC. FC's always a magical experience, being surrounded by other animals. Even though it's only the convention's first night, it was fun to wander as a critter, quietly investigating things they've set up, greeting the occasional familiar face, seeing so many new ones

Ras malai There's an Indian restaurant in south SJ where I would go even if just for the chai, and I did that this week but spontaneously also tried this dessert without first knowing what it is, taking advantage of the fact that I wasn't filling myself up on a meal.

Upon visiting Fox Tale in SJ this weekend, I found a fermented cranberry sauce on their menu. Flavored with orange peel, there were also rosemary, sea salt, sumac, brown sugar, and raisins in the recipe.
