Raytracer now renders a simple test scene in 1.4 seconds ... previously it took around 2 seconds.

Three hours of chasing a strange and bizarre raytracing bug in my renderer and the root cause turns out to be because BaseMaterial (and ImageTexture) have uninitialized attributes. On the plus side I also added some much-needed improvements that sped things up by around 25%
