RE9 is the fixed nexus point of my gaming calendar. Counting down the days to it. So I have 3 weeks to fill between now and then. I could play nothing but games I own to fill that gap... ...or take advantage of some sweet deals that went up... ...or go deep into PS plus... Choice paralysis!

My son has been watching the various "racket" videos on Nintendo Today for Mario Tennis Fever. I'm glad he likes the clips. Personally, they're turning me off from the game. Maybe I'm getting old but "get frozen or crushed by thwomps when you hit the ball" just sounds annoying at this point haha

Had this thought for a while and had to write it down (you could probably stretch a few more similarities into the comparison if you tried, but these all came naturally)

Wrapped up Resident Evil 8 Village. Such a good game. Glad I finally got the chance. Definitely recommend playing 7 before 8 if you get the opportunity but both games are excellent. Can’t wait for RE9. Excited to see this level of atmosphere and polish from 7/8 applied to apocalyptic raccoon city

For other people who generally prefer short games but have their "really long" exceptions, which games do those tend to be? Which ones earn your long-term investment?

Won’t spoil anything about it [since I know a lot of people are still playing through RE8 right now because of ps+ or about to start because of NS2] but damn, this whole stretch was fantastic. Big and oppressing area. Scratched a Metroid itch in a darker tone but still felt very Resident Evil.

3 weeks and 3 days until Resident Evil 9, and I'm so excited! This is the first time I've anticipated a brand new RE game. I got into the series after RE4 remake had already released. I've since played at least one version of 1-4, 7, and now 8 (almost finished). I might have to mute words soon.

Between the three games in the Apollo Justice collection that I'm working on, RE7 finished, RE8 in-progress, RE9 (coming very soon), and potentially Pragamata and even the Mega Man Star Force collection ... Capcom is going to claim a lot of my gaming time the first half of this year.

I imagine the third area of Resident Evil 8 is widely considered the least interesting part of the game. Not outright bad, still enjoyable, but a much less interesting theme than the first 2 unforgettable areas. Very interested in the next area though, the character associated with it intrigues me.

Funny enough … I deleted somebody from a friend list recently who I decided had an unexplainable bad vibe. And then today it’s been revealed they are a catfish. So +1 for gut feelings?

I’ve been doing a digital declutter on most platforms lately. Discord, Insta, even my phone contact list. As somebody who is prone to caring too much about all things and getting overwhelmed, it’s been liberating. A lot of unnecessary mental fluff removed.

I wrapped up Apollo Justice last night! Great game. Overly elongated at times but most of the payoffs are worth it. Looking forward to trying AA5/6 in the near future.

I know good games take a while to make, but it’s a shame that there aren’t new Astro Bot games every other year. (Alternatively, I’m impatiently excited for whatever Team Asobi does next)

This sounds like an insult but I promise it’s not. Some games stay in my rotation as “help me fall asleep” games. If they’re chill or repetitive enough, it’s like reading a book before bed. And it’s not just actual visual novels like Ace Attorney. My current ones are Hyrule Warriors & Yakuza 0.

I can’t say much about the second big house in RE8 because I don’t want to spoil it. But WTF? 😳 that’ll stick in the memory …

I’ve always thought (apart from Metroid Prime, Doom 2016, and Portal) that first person games just “weren’t for me”. But I think I really just don’t like competitive multiplayer shooters. I’ve been having a wonderful time with RE7 & RE8. Downloaded these from PS Plus to try after RE8. What else?

So now that the hype has worn off, was Doom Dark Ages better than Doom Eternal for somebody that preferred Doom 2016?

Finished off the trial. I suppose running out of time and thinking “oh man, I wanted to keep playing!” reflects well on the game itself? 😂 I’ll keep an eye out for a sale on this one, I think.

I love the Resident Evil games so much. They walk that fine line between feeling "tense and atmospheric and interesting" while still being made like "gamey games" with items and keys and upgrades. Such a perfectly addicting combo for my tastes. Can't believe I didn't touch this series until 2024.

It's taken me several months to only put about 10 hours into Yakuza 0 DC. There's a definitely a bit of mental friction for me as a fan of the newer Like a Dragon era (7/Gaiden/8/Pirates). But I do like and appreciate what the game is doing. This is just going to be a slow, gradual burn for me.

Played through the whole vampire castle segment in RE8 tonight. Great stuff. Lures you in with a false sense of security and then keeps amping up the pressure shortly before you wrap things up there.

I tried the demo a while ago, but today I played the PS Plus trial of Lumines Arise for about an hour. Really cool game with bold Tetris Effect vibes. The mechanics of this specific puzzle game aren't quite as subconsciously engrained into my soul as the rules of Tetris, but I'm getting used to it!

What are your weird "not that good but I'm insanely nostalgic for them" games you want rereleased just to reignite your early childhood memories? Sonic R for me. I just need that on the eshop or PSN for $10-$20 to scratch a very specific, clunky, cheesy itch. Also, Amazing Island for GameCube NSO.
