the track is nearly finished as i gotta paint the circuit board and dirty it up

the right track is nearly complete with just one more part and yes it does move be it not particularly well, i gotta do a lil bit more sanding and heat bending before it moves a bit more freely

well i have run into an issue With j5 as i want the tracks to turn but the model has parts that won’t turn because the idiot creator put a shape key into the drive sprocket now allowing movement so im gonna have to whip out the rotary tool 😡🤬

most of the parts for the right track are finished except two parts which unfortunately will have to be printed with a combination of whats left of my tough resin and some regular resin

80 segments and a whole bunch of brass rods and the two tracks are finished so fingers crossed i have enough resin to finish this build

J5 is nearing completion i just gotta print and paint the tracks and a bunch of cosmetic bits as well as install the lil laser/torch in his toolbox

yay got me a cheap tiny desk lathe, hopefully i can modify it with a tool post at some point but im not certain that can be done with this one but at least i can do stuff with plastic and wood

im nearly done printing the right arm and have finished printing the rear wheel so next i will be setting up the files for the tracks so fingers crossed i will have him finished within a week or two

my first attempt at stack printing and there’s 80 parts on this plate so fingers crossed it will work

still feeling like crap but starting to feel better, the back is still screwed but i did manage to get some stuff done, unfortunately theres a bunch of surface defects on the multi tool but hopefully i can cover it with some weathering and i may add some dark red or dark brown to the battery fluid

everything is neat and tidy and all the wires are hidden and so far everything works without issues

J5s left arm is finished for now as i might make changes once it’s all together

i got a bit done today which was putting in the extras for his left arm as well as making a ribbon cable from scratch as i couldn’t find one at the right size (later i found one online lol) and gluing on a bunch of D-cell batteries to the ribbon cable bandolier

well i’ve burned up two more boards, ine was due to power and the second was due to the function buttons screwing up so i’ve order 2 more boards and if they go im scraping this entire fucking project

hopefully i will be getting the new audio boards for J5 today so i can finally finish the head wiring unfortunately after watching the movie for the millionth time i figured out that there’s an a metal band that wraps around the back of his head so i will have to find some thin foam to replicate it

thankfully the lip lights survived but the eye led blew and unfortunately it isn’t an easy repair but fingers crossed it will work

unfortunately the j5 build has hit a snag as my audio board decided to die but i have absolutely no idea why so i hope to heck it didn’t blow out my leds

all the body parts have finished printing, have been assembled and had a primer coat so all that is left to do is the rear wheel, tracks, the multi too and the tool box also extra parts but some of those might have to wait until next month as ive already spent alot on this project this month

the new lip light board is installed and all the wires are shortened so hopefully fingers crossed it works and all fits into the head

J5’s head is nearly finished just got to do some soldering to the lip light board and add some more copper strands to the mohawk

just gotta add the old school single earphone to his duct tape side and the chain on the other side

got more parts finishing soon and that will mean all the parts for the head are done and all that is left to do is the wires and to clean up and amplify the audio files

it’s definitely my biggest single print ive done so far and theres a gw paint pot for scale

just finished the largest print ive ever done and it came out pretty good except some minor layer line shifts but DAMN it was a battle to remove the supports

i did done gooffed lol but an easy fix the plugs for the power stick out too much so i will have to solder directly to the board which isn’t ideal as i wanted it modular but iv i can find some spare connectors i should be good

J5 update

well smeg i started putting primer on the j5 parts and i either sprayed too much or the temperature/air moisture messed up the surface finish oh well i can lightly sand it so it’s not a loss

well my first use of elegoo tough resin was a failure for the most part as just half the parts printed but this is probably due to me using the wrong settings so i have readjusted and hopefully the next print will be better

i might get flagged for the audio but the J5 lip light setup is working, i will have to dial it in a bit and replace the board lights with the final red leds butin all im super happy

happy days the audio level indicator fits into the head plate with lots of extra space but im still unsure where to put the speaker at the moment as i need to print the rest of the model and see where i get better sound

mmm kinda torn between these two silversfor J5, the left is gw runefang steel and the right is a metallic silver from pēbeo which is more glittery and has a slightly blue/purple shine, i may go with left as it’s a flat color which is more in line with J5

johnny 5 update- after 4 attempts i finally got the mohawk to look the way i wanted it

later today will be my first ever attempt at making pumpkin pie as well as pumpkin and apple pie

unfortunately i did a calculation and this guy is gonna cost nearly £130 so this build will be stretched over 3 months depending on other commitments

first print done and other than few layer line shifts which are superficial due to my raft messing up, unfortunately the cassette i designed for holding the lip lights needs a re designed as i need to fit in at least 10 leds for the front

it’s half way don and it’s way bigger than anticipated lolol

happy days my recent commission arrived with only a little damage so now i can share the two baphomet statues i printed and painted for @ansgar-odinson.bsky.social
