Trump seems to be operating under the “unitary executive theory” of presidential power, but this is not the law of the land. The US government was never meant to operate like a corporation where the CEOs word is final. Our laws have checks *within* the executive branch.

Regarding evil in the world and “acts of God,” AKA natural disasters. Consider how different the impact of these events would be if our society wasn’t set up to exploit others. Ex. Nobody need live in major flood zones because affordable housing would be available in safer areas.

I think its a truism at this point to say capitalists have too much power in the US right now. The answer to that, IMHO, is cooperation. Specifically, cooperation between people with skills to create employee centric economic entities to offer alternatives to profit centric corporations.

As an American who lived and worked in Denmark for 7 yrs, I can tell you that the right's claims about democratic socialism are so far off the mark they'd be laughable if they weren't so insidious. No system is perfect, but the Danes have got a lot figured out.

Healthcare is just one of the systems in the US with built in dead ends, where you’re expected to just shrug and walk away. But such unmet needs lead to an unavoidable build up of pressure that eventually bursts. The dead ends must end.

It seems to me that when people are able to insulate themselves from the consequences of their actions for long enough, a kind of pressure begins to build up within the system. Such pressure generally catastrophically releases eventually.
