The iconic Chrysler Plymouth sign in Bristow, Oklahoma - dark for more than 50 years - is coming down for a full restoration. I'll be rebuilt in a new plaza right on Route 66 for the Centennial!

I got to see Tulsa's King Cabbage Brass Band play with an entire symphony last night and it blew my face off.

This unassuming little building in Bristow, Oklahoma is home to some of the best onion rings I've had in my life. The Anchor Drive-In originally opened on #Route66 in 1950; new owners bought it a few years back and have breathed new life into this legacy business.

Vinita, Oklahoma is a spot where US Highway 66 was aligned on top of the Jefferson Highway, which connected Winnipeg to New Orleans. It's nice to see the older roads recognized along with Route 66!

On the west side of Seligman AZ you can see the original path of Route 66; it shifted south in the 1950s. You can find spots like this all along the highway if you know where to look. One thing I love about this old road is that it's always been evolving.

RIP my Keen sandals. I bought these in 2009 just before I left the country and backpacked for nearly a year. They have served me well and it feels appropriate that the straps finally gave out while traveling. I will miss the tiger-stripe tan lines.
