…Is this a safe space to say I think the writing for Stargaze is good? I do think they’re hitting the major themes and beats of Trigun, and doing so with a high level of writing economy. I feel like the intent has always been to direct us to the manga. That Stampgaze is a Trimax tease.

My biggest beef with Stargaze is that they took away Wolfwood and Meryl being scared shitless of their boyfriend. No bad curry date to commiserate. ☹️

It is frustrating to have Vash's subversion of masulinity valorized while condemning Meryl for exhibiting the same compassion. The subversion exists to point out that it isn't gendered. It's that we're all human beings that should strive to show compassion towards each other.

Making such accusations hurts real people that choose to be softness and compassion as their strengths. It also hurts people that choose to be parents. Making countering accusations only hurts the people your egos pretend to protect.

Saying this as a 36-year-old woman currently struggling with my choice to be childfree or a mother: Calling how Meryl was written misogynistic is inherently moreso than how someone perceived the direction of a fictional show. --
