I just read @gailcarriger.bsky.social’s The Heroine’s Journey and *why are we not all nerding out about this?!* Or maybe we are and I am just late to that party too? I’ve been unknowingly writing a heroine’s journey, then tacking on a hero’s journey ending. No wonder why it just wouldn’t work.

Me to eldest child: why aren’t you wearing your watch? Her, deadpan: Because it made me mad, and I’m a petty-child.

Just logged into goodreads for the first time in… years? I forsee a sleepless night of adding books to my read and want to read lists.

Also, big blocks of writing time opening up starting Monday *and* the manuscript coming back from assessment. Why does waiting get harder, the closer the finish line is?

This week brought me news of two new humans entering the world, and a dear cherished one staying in it. I chose to focus on this.

In the last 2 days I have: fallen up the steps, tumbling dramatically onto the kitchen floor much to the bafflement of the whole family; gashed my hand with my thumbnail much to my own bafflement; then head butted the shower wall while rinsing my face. I shall not write today. Seems dangerous.

I am very late to the bluesky joining party, but I have been toiling away on my novel. And raising kids. And trying to stay moderately healthy.
