random piece of advice: if you suddenly find it hard to draw after doing a bunch of studies (or even just drawing a bunch), it’s prob because your observational skills have gotten better. you’re basically not comfortable making the same mistakes that you’ve gotten into the habit of doing before!

one of my art goals is to be more efficient with my painting process . i think i end up trying to overcorrect minor details for so long that i end up taking much longer than i have to i’ve been checking out a lot of semirealism artists and a lot just go straight into mapping out shapes…. 📝

i’ve been helping a friend learn how to draw over time, you hear the phrase “draw what you see, not what you know” — but it really is interesting how much of art is just getting people out of drawing what /they/ think something is supposed to look like
