There is a tension between the moon, the earth, the sun, and stars that keeps everything in place. It’s balance that brings harmony. A giving and taking. A sharing of space and making room for others. It’s the sun giving warmth in the day, and the moon reflecting light for the night.

I created this necklace pendant from sacred prairie sage in fine silver and paired it with this Royston turquoise stone. I’ve added a hinge mechanism between the stone and sage piece for extra movement. I hope it speaks to you as it did to me. We all need a little sage for the soul. #sacredsage

We had about three inches of rain overnight. It was a much needed gift and just in time for a new pair of earrings I finished. I named these “Thunder and Rain” and they are textured with little bluestem fresh from the prairie.

The bronze and black porcelain work is going slowly. I’m sawing out some oak leaves and engraving some veins in the leaves. I’ve not practiced engraving after taking classes so the work is a little rough. It’s all forward movement, growth, and a practice of patience.

The oak tree is such a great symbol of strength and caring - characteristics that are so needed in our world today. She stands silently but firmly planted in her community. Her roots go deep. She doesn’t ask, “Are you worthy to be fed?” She just feeds all who come to her table.

Moth earrings are textured with prairie ticklegrass. I’ll be experimenting with moth themes this year. Many of our moth relatives are nocturnal but are attracted to light. I think they will lead the way in this dark world.

Every late fall around this time of year, the crows come to roost in the trees on our property. I call them messengers. They have a lot to tell me as they fly in when the sun sets and begins its journey to sleep and the moon makes her appearance to watch over the night.

I’ve made a few bronze pieces. Fall is the golden months of the year much like the golden hour of the day where the sun is at just the right angle to bring out the golden hues of the #prairie.

A reworked piece made more adaptable with an adjustable bead chain. Bison is textured with goldenrod flowers that stands tall atop white buffalo stone - the prairie in a shadow box.

I just realized that this red creek jasper stone looks similar to last night’s aurora borealis. With the switchgrass underneath with the dark patina, it’s like being out on the night prairie again watching these northern lights dance.

I have hiked a lot the past 10 years & I can remember the overwhelming awe I felt when we happened upon a fern covered forest floor. Fine silver fern earrings show both the topside & the underside of a spore-ridden fern frond. The green tourmaline faceted gemstones are a reminder of quiet growth.

Hmmmmm. I do think I like the purple and silver combination of these sage earrings. I’m a little biased as our football team’s, Kansas State Wildcats, colors are purple and gray. The purple gemstone is charoite.

It’s that time of year on the prairie where the winds pick up and the tall grasses begin to roll like the waves of the sea. In the wide open spaces, it is quite breathtaking to see and even more so to hear the grass sing with a rustled voice. Wearing these, you can almost hear the grass sing.

Here’s a little wayside speedwell textured moon with a beautiful blue kyanite stone. Wayside speedwell has the tiniest blue flowers that may go unnoticed by most people. With some things you have to get down on your hands and knees to see the beauty. Wayside speedwell is one of those plants.

This moon is textured with whorled milkweed and has a rainbow moonstone gemstone. Rainbow moonstone has a luminous blue flash like a moonbeam. It brings a little light to dark places.

New moon necklaces are now available. This one is textured with #prairie peppergrass and has a rutilated quartz stone with its golden inclusions that look like… dried grass. You can almost feel the pull of the moon with this one as it keeps the harmonious balance of the earth and sky.

It has become a summer evening ritual after the heat of the day, to walk toward the sunset, counting bunnies along the way. As we turned to head home, the moon greeted us and showed us the way. This was as the inspiration for the this new jumping rabbit pendant coming soon.
