Added a protoboard to my extension unit. Intercepted the LED cable from the "LED Output Register Card" to feed the signal of LED 0 into an optocoupler (using a 74HCT244 as a driver). Wrote a simple MBasic program to implement what is called the "Euclidean Rhythm" in the synth world. #synthsky

News from my Altair Mini journey: The basic Euclidean algorithm works in MBasic and the value is shown on LED 0 of the LED output register card. I've also "hacked" the LED ribbon cable and put a 74HCT244 driver in there and an optocoupler, which I'll test next. #synthsky #altair #euclidean

Altair clone. What i've learned: connecting via (serial oder) USB works nicely, could mount floppy disks from sd card and start Basic. There is also a WiFi adapter built in, which connects to my WiFi, but I couldn't get it to work. There is a Facebook (urghh) forum with other enthusiasts for help

Broke the SD card Interface of my Altair Mini and desoldering failed. Soldered cables to the ISP and added it here instead. Yeah that works 😁

Was able to start Basic and try a few things on the Altair clone. And I could mount the Zork Disk image and execute it. Now I'm a real 70s computer man! (well I was before, but I was 2 years old when the original Altair hit the market)

I finished wiring up the "hpwit/SID6581" project (with a SwinSID Nano). The first test was negative :-( I scoped a few lines and they looked OK. Hmm, further debugging is needed. I also had to fix an error in the library, some register names changed in the ESP32 core libraries. #synthsky #SID #ESP32

(1) I really enjoy sequencing with clock dividers and logic modules. In the beginning I had a simple Korg SQ-1, which was fun as well. Then it felt too limited&to spare rack HP I went to buy an Oxi one. But so far that doesn't click. The more simplistic Doepfer A155-2 is what I use most #Synthsky

Used Claude.ai to read the Doepfer PLL doc and create an interactive model of its panel with explanations. Not perfect (even after a few iterations, *sigh*), but after all it might be a nice tool for modules with a rather cryptic interface or functions :-) #synthsky #eurorack
