Turns out implementing a localisation system as well as a UI refresh is a MASSIVE task. One that I grossly underestimated 😅 No word on the release of Zoomies 0.9.7 for now, but I'll be working on a meaty Dev Diary so I can show you all what I've been working on!

tip for horror game devs: attach a light source to your first-person player models. just a small low-emitting light, just enough for a player lost in darkness to see a nearby wall if they were close enough to it or the floor they're standing on. even horror games need accessibility and QoL.

I was a little quiet on my previous Twitter account because I don't like social media. But since Bsky isn't filled with hate-fueled slop, I'm going to make more of an effort to post things that maybe are or aren't related to gamedev too :)

The next Zoomies update will focus on localization. Unfortunately most of the localization will be generated by Google Translate. But I'm hoping this will open up more opportunities for non-English speaking people to play the game :) Cat Racing should be a sport all over the globe!

Loot boxes / gacha can be good. But it all depends on the surrounding framework and mechanics. Shoving loot boxes into a game that doesn't need it is still very bad.

Made a pretty major last-minute change which means the new update will take a bit longer, but it does mean that general handling should be much more improved and the game just feels so much smoother and easier to play. Really looking forward to getting this out :)
