Most of the stuff heâs asking them to do already PBS does. You know the public broadcaster that belongs to Americans and Trump and friends are working hard to destroy?

BREAKING: Taylor Rehmet was just sworn in as the first rank-and-file union member to serve in the Texas Senate. Senator Rehmet is a beacon of hope not just for Texas, but for every union member and worker in the state. This is a huge win for Texas workers!

The reason the FCC can do this nonsense is because the American people own the airwaves so companies broadcasted are obligated to give airtime to both parties. Given the majority of people donât watch broadcast itâs absurd they alone are subject to this requirement. (see Colbertâs YT success)

everyone saying âliberals and leftists have plenty of emerging technologies they love!â feels kind of goofy because the problem is never the technology. it is the people and systems using technology. AI, LLMs, hell even doorbell cameras are all useful when not lashed to all-consuming corporations.

The problem with getting in the news business, as Meta and now Apple are learning, is you are then a media company and need to stand by your journalists or chuck them under the bus.

alternatively what if this brings us back to proper action films that have ladies jump dirt bikes onto moving trains and dudes slide down a couple of stories using nothing but string lights or fight scenes you can follow and that actually look good

Wild take from Abbott given how unpopular his vouchers program is and how brutally GOP lost in Fort Worth a week ago largely because of politics in schools. like Greg you done lost the whole ass plot and need to log off.

absolutely fascinated by the political commercials on local TV in Texas atm. 80% of them are just people saying âSharia lawâ or âMuslimâ or âimmigrantsâ in a scary voice. Talarico actually stands out with âI capped insulin prices and will fight for youâ bit. It all feels cartoonishly on the nose.

I lived away from Texas for more than 10 years so I was super surprised when I learned that not only is getting you license now by appointment only but no politician has made fixing it a platform.

Wambasganss spent a lot of time loudly flipping school board seats to the hard right which led to a lot of book bans and a notable drop in the quality of the schools in this district. I suspect that hurt as badly as the Trump connection--which is still the focal point of every GOP ad in Texas.

Pre streaming if you lived in a rural area the only way you could get more than broadcast channels was if you had an antenna (pricey) or someone paid to run cable out to your property (more pricey). So many of us have little knowledge of Degrassi or Real World but know the Red Dwarf theme song by â€ïž

The world sucks, but Reddit's algorithim brought me to the Laundry Spa Day post and I now have a bunch of shirts I can wear in public again. Pit stains GONE. Oily residue ERADICATED. Clothes CLEAN. Cost CHEAP. (Unless you lack a washing machine. Then it will probably be much more annoying.)

thereâs often this assumption in the US that companies will âdo the right thingâ and through our monocultural media system and political saber rattling that used to be true! but now you can just ignore outcry and pay the right political party and carry on.

60 Minutes is the GOAT at covering all sides of a hot political topic fairly. Their recent coverage of Israel is a pristine example of that and should legit be studied in j-school. Bari putting her finger on the scale is atrocious.

It doesnât mention it because the more northern breeding center was shut down long before DOGE. The new world screwwormâs march north has been happening for some time and the new breeding centers weâre building will take time to produce enough sterile flies. this was a long term policy failure.

ran into this when I used Pods to move across country this year. Pod was just never delivered because they have a shortage of drivers. My movers told me it was extremely bad on the east coast due to the limits on who gets CDLs and salaries being at some of their lowest in ages.

USPS is a government service and we REALLY donât want all mail delivery to be privatized because then many people simply wonât be able to receive mail. but Amazon continuing to prop up USPS (an org that has been repeatedly cut off at the knees by the GOP) is also not great! Fund USPS properly!
