I’m baking today, using my trusty recipe book, the 1st copy I bought new in 1977. I’m on my third copy as the previous ones eventually fell apart because I used them so often. I know, I know…I probably do know most of the recipes off by heart, 🧵1/2

It’s damp and cold here in the South East of England today, so I made pulled pork shoulder with butter beans and carrot soup for supper. Hot and very tasty.

Rocket Lab launched a Synspective radar-imaging satellite today, from Mahia Peninsula, New Zealand. Exhaust gasses expands rapidly though the thinning atmosphere, looking lovely with the early morning light shining through it. The dot in the middle is actually the rocket during first stage burn.

I’m wearing my rainbow socks today. I knitted them myself. I’m an artist, so I love all the colours. I’m an ally too, so I love all the colours.

I took this photo in June 2021. The sky was filled with fast moving lacy clouds that meant I could occasionally view the partial eclipse seemingly nestled on a rainbow coloured bed of clouds. #Spacetober_challenge

Season 4 of Slow Horses is a little high octane for someone that doesn’t like violence or gore like myself. The finale was both enjoyable and stressful. Season 5 looks even more stressful, so I think I’ll give myself a break for a week before I dive in again. #SlowHorses

Finally caught the mouse today. Used a humane trap. Clever little thing, it avoided tripping the trap mechanism whilst robbing the bait for a week. My cat watched in distain as I left the house to release the mouse at a recreational ground a couple of blocks away. I’ll reset the trap, just in case.

Sad to hear about the passing of John Lodge, one of the vocalists in the Moody Blues.

I did a bulk order of fresh fish and it was delivered today. I do enjoy fish-on-the-bone but it’s been getting harder to find. Some supermarkets have done away with their wet fish counters and have replaced them with filleted fish in smaller portions with inflated prices. 🧵1/3

I’ve had an Orb spider living on the inside of my kitchen window for a month now. They’re not normally an indoor spider. Sadly I will have to move it back outside as I intend to clean the windows this week. Orb spiders in the UK are a family of Araneidae spiders. #spiders

Happy Sputnik Day. Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite was launched into Earth's orbit on October 4, 1957 and marked the beginning of the Space Age. The name "Sputnik" also refers to the carrier rocket used for the launch, a Russian-language term for "fellow traveler”.

Actress Dame Patricia Routledge has passed away, aged 96. I enjoyed her portrayal of Hyacinth Bucket (“Bouquet”) in the classic TV sitcom ‘Keeping Up Appearances’. To this day my daughter laughs at me whenever I do a Waitrose on-line grocery shop. “Getting another Bucket order in, are you?”
