This is two digital artworks brought together. The first is a steampunk frame that I can reuse with different colours, midgrounds and backgrounds. The second is the character within the frame. I’ve called it The Keeper.

Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. Yes, it really is and I’ve been celebrating it for the past five years by sharing the worst pirate joke I can find: What did the pirate say when his wooden leg got stuck in a snow bank? “Shiver me timbers!”

I grew up with plain boiled potatoes. These days I will peel and boil more than I actually need for one meal so that the next day I can thickly slice and pan fry the leftovers, or use the slices with other veggies to make a frittata or bubble n’ squeak. How do you use boiled potatoes?

Oh dear, I’ve just completed de-stashing and dusting the tall storage unit in my bedroom. Some of you may have something similar in your own room, you know - the shelves/drawers where you stash things which are then forgotten about. Completely. Why do we do this to ourselves?

Today I’m listening to a new audiobook, Starter Villain by @jscalzi, brilliantly read by Wil Wheaton. I know, I’m late to the party, but at least I got there.

I’ve knitted the heel flap, turned and knitted the heel, picked up the stitches either side of the heel flap - ready to knit the gusset on both sides now. Knitting socks is a wonderful exercise in 3D fiber construction. Humanity has been making socks for several millennium. #knitting #sockknitting

Oooo…I’ve been a little naughty this morning. Splurged out on two skeins of 50/50 silk & merino sock wool. The colour is scarlet. Yes, I’ll be knitting myself scarlet socks.

Beetroot Jam (Eingermacht). I love trying new foods. There’s only 1 of me so working my way through a jar takes some time. I’ve a stash of jams ready for me to try in the same way as I’ve a stack of books waiting to be read. The beetroot jam was delicious & I will be on the lookout for a replacement

His Fluffiness is making me feel a right heel at the moment. In his enthusiasm for breakfast this morning he was shadowing my feet too closely and I didn’t realise his paw was underneath my descending foot until I stood on him. Ouch.

This morning I visited my local nature reserve so I could stock up on some refill cupboard items & then catch up on correspondence over a cup of coffee in the cafe. As I arrived the Clouds of Doom had rolled over & released a downpour of epic proportions, forcing me to stay in my car for over 10mins

His Fluffiness is pissed with me. Sitting ram rod straight next to the cat flap in the kitchen door and mouthing his displeasure at me because I’ve obviously forgotten to switch the weather off. I, on the other hand, couldn’t be happier that it’s raining.

It gently rained for nearly an hour today. As I walked past my garden I could hear a trickle of water falling from the run off pipe into my nearly empty water butt. I’m hoping it will rain some more tomorrow.

I was very brave today - had a broken-beyond-repair molar extracted. There is ice cream on my horizon as a reward, but not for the next two days.

I’ve just given up reading a book that had only 4 chapters before the end. It started off well, but then the plot line petered out & I realised I didn’t care how it got to the finishing line so I gave up. The author is generally very good so I won’t be revealing the book, we all have bad days/books.
