In his 5-year-old debut, Silver Charm fell as many as seven lengths off the lead before commencing his rally around the turn. With Trevor Denman announcing “look at this guy go” Charm makes the lead with ease and “strolls home” to an easy win.

Everyone look out, Louisiana-bred Cougar Bait is telling us all it’s time for him to get his driver’s license because he’s turning 16 today! He’s the boss of his Hillcrest Farm paddock and his friends tell us they got quite the cake to celebrate him.

We are devastated to announce the death of 30-year-old Doneraile Court. A MGSW who was well traveled at stud, he arrived at Old Friends in December 2019 & quickly became a farm favorite. He spent his last years as the King of the MHG Annex at Winding Oaks & will be much missed.

We have a double birthday today. 7-year resident and graded stakes winner Saudi Poetry turns 29 and her BFF Crusade for Peace has quite the party planned! That party will also celebrate 13-year resident Maybesomaybenot’s 18th birthday. It’s bound to be quite the celebration!

Today’s birthday boy is the 17-year-old Johannesbourbon. Finishing in the top two in 9 of his 12 starts, one of those seconds was an exciting runner-up finish in the Tom Ridge S. These days, Johannesbourbon is living his best life at Hillcrest Farm.

Owned by our good friend, Michael Hui, Zulu Alpha raced alongside fellow Old Friends resident Next Shares in the 2020 G1 Pegasus Turf before charging up along the rail to score a two-length victory and add a Grade 1 win to his impressive resume.

We are saddened to announce the passing of 2010 G3 @breederscup.bsky.social Marathon winner and 12-year Old Friends resident Eldaafer at 21. A 4x BC Marathon runner, Eldaafer arrived to Old Friends alongside his goat friends Yahoo and Google with the trio inseparable for many years.

Our three @KentuckyDerby and @PreaknessStakes winners are also our 3 Champ 3YO Males. Each of them also won 2/3 of the Triple Crown to make sure voters remembered their name with Silver Charm winning in 1997, Big Brown in 2008, and I’ll Have Another in 2012. 📸 @PyroisMedia

Our Eclipse Champion Turf Males all earned their championships in a five-year period. Big Blue Kitten was the 2015 winner, Stormy Liberal’s strong 2018 – ending in a 2nd @BreedersCup Turf Sprint win- won him the award, and Channel Maker's 2020 trophy rounds out our trifecta.

We’re wishing a happy 13th birthday to Ed Johnson today! In his racing days, Ed won the listed Alcatraz Stakes at the now defunct Golden Gate Fields as one of his 3 wins in 7 starts. He retired in 2016 and these days is enjoying life with his buds in Paddock 73.

With great sadness, we share the passing of He Loves Me Not at age 22. A winner of 6 races and nearly $200k on the track, He Loves Me Not was a 13-year resident of Old Friends. Love Me spent his retirement days in Paddock 67 with his buddies, who will miss him, as will we.
