I needed a Bluesky / ATProto Jetstream Node.js client that supports reconnecting and ZSTD compression OOTB so I made my own to use commonly across all my things. I also decided to publish it if anyone else is looking for something similar. Feel free to submit/report any improvements/bugs/issues. 👨‍💻

This is interesting! I'm building something related on ATProto: rankthat.net One idea is to use it for getting recommendations on what to add to your own collection. Another is to do group based decision making or preference elucidation.

Bluesky infra costs are a Bluesky thing, not an Atproto thing. They decided to do their product that way, but that doesn't mean everything built in Atproto needs to be the same.

The latest version of the Taito F2 core fixes the shadows in PuLiRuLa so they "shimmer" like you see in the video. The shadows are just the character sprites drawn with a black color palette and scaled down vertically. So what makes them shimmer?

Today I blocked: - Activitypub trolls that only post to say how bad atproto is - supposed atproto supporters that haven’t contributed a single thing but can’t stop mocking actually released things because the code is not good enough for their standards. IT people, you are exhausting

I just had a revelation: before six months, someone will run a PDS on a ESP32 dev board and short after someone else is gonna port that code to run on a wifi lightbulb.

You can reduce costs by avoiding deploying social-app clones. I also handle tuning tasks like creating new accounts on TOKIMEKI. As an open-source project, anyone can contribute improvements. Please consider it!!

To the folks running Bluesky-like AppView! TOKIMEKI is a TweetDeck-like multi-column client that also supports clones of AppView via atproto-proxy. The endless proliferation of social app clones doesn't seem ideal for user experience. Why not make TOKIMEKI your main AppView client?

Is anyone using a free email account for its PDS to send emails through SMTP? Is it working OK? Which provider it is? Do you use it for other automated emails like system notifications?

I logged with this account once on the official app for iOS, but keep getting notifications there ever after login off and removing this account from the app. How can I make it so the app stops sending me notifications for this account?

How much do you agree with explaining things like “The same way email is an open protocol and GMail is a product that interacts with that open protocol, ATproto is an open protocol, and Bluesky is a product that interacts with that open protocol”.
