Initially I felt as though the summary was a bit misleading. But I'm glad I stuck it out. This was right up my alley, though I'll admit it might not be for everyone. At times dry or almost clinical writing, but such fun ideas and still engaging. Critically, it stuck the landing! TW: good 🕷️s 4.6/5

I don't know who needs to hear this, but actually yes, you can twist open a jar by pressing it against a belly and turning. (Though it wouldn't work with a furry belly I wouldn't think, has to be skin, and definitely less believable for a stuck lid, but just saying lol)

Admittedly the main character annoyed me slightly in the first couple of chapters. That said, he grew on me quickly. Lots of fun surprises, banter, and scientific problem solving as the character slowly remembers more and more of why he is here and the importance of what he is doing. 4.4/5

If you make it black and white, it becomes more artistic

Again I am annoyed by how juvenile the main character in a Weir book is. Smug and thinks he's funny. I fear it is a reflection of the type of person the author is and he can't see it as a flaw. I get some people find that entertaining, but it just always rubs me the wrong way lol

Finished this tonight. 80% of the stories had me bawling, 5% were just okay, 15% were wth in the best way. They're all connected in some way for the most part, but the main themes are dealing with loss and grief or making good out of bad. Occasionally fantastical, often tragically grounded. 4/5
