The familial relation between Eika and Keiki isn't particularly obscure, but it feels noteworthy that there's a version of Kagutsuchi's birth in the Nihon Shoki that places his marriage to Haniyama-hime (aka Haniyasu-hime) immediately after the birth of Hiruko.

Pet theory of mine, but I wonder if the inclusion of Mamizou in Ten Desires was inspired by the mention of a Mujina during the reign of Empress Suiko (who Prince Shōtoku served under). Notably, Tanuki were also called Mujina in Sado, and Danzaburo was even referred to as Danzaburō-Mujina (団三郎狢)...

Don't think I've seen anyone bring up the concept of Muenjo (無縁所; literally "place of the unconnected") in discussions of Unconnected Marketeers, despite it seeming pretty central to UM and Chimata. I've also seen the term translated as "asylum", which is likely referenced by Chimata's last spell.

I wonder if one of the reasons that ZUN decided to give Nue an association with UFO's comes from the Heike Monogatari itself. After being slain, the creature's corpse was sent off in a "hollow ship" (うつろ舟, utsuro-bune), a term referring to a craft made from a single hollowed out log...
