#TBBChat Culture informs your being, so without this, a character is flat. In my current wip, Kris is hesitant. It's complex for him. His family has gifted him so much - confidence, money, his job, opportunities, but he hides his queerness. Outwardly he belongs, inwardly not so much.

#TBBChat Some deliberately disconnect to their ancestry. Families can be complicated, especially for queer people, and that leads to finding found families instead. Kind of like creating your own new stories and finding safe places and people.

"what did teens do before social media!" In my small town, I mostly rode my horse, but other teens did a lot of drink driving and dying. Also the suicide rate was very high in our town. It was super depressing with no out of town connections. My own teens play a lot of sport (and use social media)

I don't really understand the question. What is weird? All inspiration is weird. Liability is inspired by Lorde's song Liability. Lord Rothschild's zebras inspired A Duke's Wager. Going to Wales inspired Her Lady's Honor. Delta Blues (a horse) inspired Merindah Park.

Update on this. It's likely a fairy story or fable written in Old Javanese, so I've reached out to a local university who has someone studying that language to see if I can find out more.
