Looks like I’m up to me old tricks again… This will be “quadruple tikka” skewers. Brined chicken in tikka spices; then put into a dry rub of more tikka spices; then marinated several hours in yogurt and yet more tikka spices; all with a tikka sauce to go on top.

Years ago, I dreamt up a story that the Mourne Wall was built to keep animals out of the olfactory range of a terrible livestock-devouring beast that was captured a century ago and buried in concrete at the bottom of the Silent Valley reservoir to stop it wreaking havoc on the local population.

Started the season with no proven loosehead, no proven 10, one proven second row... That we finish disappointed after... *this*... Says a lot. Feels awful. But it's real progress

Anyway, now I've nothing to lose either way, for as much as I'll be supporting Leinster, I'm gonna lob a few grenades, anyway.

Going back 15m on a knock-on and coming back to the line of the knock-on is, in no way, an advantage and if this is the future of how the game’s referees, the game’ll get funky, fast.

Ahh, my bookshop mailers are shouting at me about the Booker Prize, again - the most pointless marker of “quality” I can think of. Occasionally throws up great winners like Milkman and The Sellout but then also unreadable drivel like Amsterdam or bloody Lincoln in the Bardo. Count me out, mailers.

“Self-sufficiency” stuff is laughable. Grandparents were “self-sufficient” into the 60s. Awful conditions. No electricity. Little income. Just what they could grow and a few quid from labouring. Brutal, perilous, existence. Best day of their lives was moving into a council house.

Today I learned the hard, or at least unfortunate, way that goose poo is a lot more like fox poo than bird poo.

Werner Kok, in the best way possible, is the biggest pain in the backside I’ve ever seen on a rugby pitch. Was glad we got to enjoy that for a couple of seasons instead of getting wound up by him. Will always have the fond memories of when Ulster got our Kok out!

I’ll still be amazed if we get a harvest of more than three or four in the end but I don’t remember our wee tree ever having so many potential plums before.
