This Earth Day, I’m excited to share that my bill, AB 1417—a critical investment in California’s offshore wind future—has passed out of committee! Offshore wind plays a vital role in our state. No matter what attacks we witness from the federal administration, we know this industry is here to stay.

Today in committee, an opponent of AB 1127, a bill that will ban DIY machine guns, stated that they would challenge this legislation in court—and win. So let me be clear: We love our children more than you love your guns. Mark my words, we will win—we have no other option.

These devices have become a tool for lawbreakers. They’re linked to vehicle thefts, robberies, and toll evasion — undermining public safety and costing the state millions in lost transportation revenue. My bill ensures that enforcement will keep pace with technology designed to deceive.

As we celebrate Easter, we also remember the tragic events at Columbine and honor the lives that were so senselessly taken 26 years ago. That day served as a wake-up call for many, yet decades later, so much work still remains to protect our loved ones from the threat of this heartbreaking violence.

Today, I anounced Wyland’s Law (AB 1363)—a bill that aims to prevent the kind of heartbreaking failure that cost 10-year-old Wyland Gomes his life. Wyland’s Law will hold our courts and state agencies accountable. It ensures protective orders are properly transmitted and verifiable.

This past weekend, I visited the devastating aftermath of the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles. Witnessing firsthand the utter destruction in Altadena was a heartbreaking and sobering experience. Entire homes and neighborhoods were wiped out, and so many lives forever changed.
