not sure how much longer the lakers can stick w/ this starting lineup. starting group was a -14 in just 8:14 in the first half. offensive rating of 66.7 and a defensive rating of 144.4. for the season the starters were a -13.1 net rating coming into this game in 76 minutes.

luka’s stats of late are way more a product of his usage than of him playing well.

lebron was 2-2 on threes from the left slot vs. the 76ers tonight. since the start of the 2023-24 season, lebron is 127-308 from threes taken in that zone, 41.2%. absolutely a laser when pulling up from there.

wretched half from austin. on both ends. sheesh.

With 6:48 left in the 1st half: Luka: 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 6-9 FG, 5-5 FT, 89.3% True Shooting Austin: 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3-4 FG, 5-5 FT, 104.8% True Shooting

Luka leads the league w/ 12.3 points scored in 1st quarters, but he's already surpassed that w/ 15 against the Pelicans and there's still 3 minutes left in the period.

luka up to 35 points on 18 field goal attempts and 7 made threes. 86.6% true shooting.

after scoring 71 points in the 1st half, the jazz have scored just 36 in the 2nd half w/ just 5 minutes left in the game.

lebron remains an unreal passer.

after not switching 1-5 all season, the lakers are doing it tonight and are not sharp. not being aggressive on their pass-offs and are out of position too often. jazz getting open 3's and had some drives to get shots at the rim or setups for kickouts to open shooters.

maybe the lakers still think walker kessler is playing, but he's not. trying to drive a bit more and get to the rim and have everything flow off of that would be a nice.

the lakers are settling for long jumpers on offense and switching 1-5 on defense, but doing it softly and surrendering open 3's all over the court. not coincidentally, they trail by 10. this sort of passive play is not what i was hoping to see w/ real energy around bron's return.

random tech question: i have an m1 macbook air. should i upgrade to the m4 air? it's on sale right now and while my m1 still works really well (save for the battery life), but feels like too good a deal to pass on for the m4 and i could give my m1 to my 9th grader for school.

disgraceful defensive quarter from the lakers.

the players have been awful, but they absolutely were not ready to play tonight, and the coach deserves some heat for that.

when not a single player looks ready to play (i know ayton has had some good plays and has been productive, but he started the game w/ a turnover and had several flat defensive possessions in his 1st shift), the coach has to own it. and that is the case for the lakers so far.

worst quarter of the season the lakers have played when you consider whose available for their opponent. no way to sugarcoat this or to spin it. they did not show up ready to play. that's on the players and the coaches.

37 points surrendered in a quarter to this hawks team is a horrendous showing by the lakers defense.

lakers playing as though the other team doesn't have their best players, and are getting their asses kicked by atlanta's backups. need to pick it up by several notches, first on defense, but even on offense where they are going through the motions and not as focused as they should be.

lakers are playing with minimal focus and low energy to start this game against the short handed hawks. if they keep this up, they will lose.

luka's boxscore production is VERY strong, but i'd argue this has not been a very good game from him when accounting for the amount of usage, his continuous hunting of a foul type that the refs have not given him all game, & his consistent arguing and complaining to the refs on so many possessions.

the lakers really miss austin reaves tonight.
