32 years ago today, the last Soviet troops left Lithuania, ending decades of occupation. With this final milestone, Lithuania restored complete control of independence, taken from us in 1940. Today, we mark the Day of Freedom. 🇱🇹

A hundred years ago, in August 1925, Lithuania's mission in France started operating in its first Paris home. It welcomed prominent European diplomats, politicians, and journalists – before being seized by the Soviet Union after it occupied Lithuania in 1940.
