Philosophy Colleagues: We must stop crediting famous philosophical inventors for common sense observations that not only probably but surely existed millennia before them. Just because they are written or imputed to have been uttered by a philosopher does not make them original.

We should establish a new academic discipline researching chronic human shortcomings. It could be called "Idiotics". Somehow, current insights are dissipated among several other disciplines, which often do not want to research, or make a point of findings, in this direction.

Just imagine what an entity who would know nothing about humanity would make of how we treat each other on social media. I see myriads of messages entrusted to the current, each with a piece of somebody's soul. But very view find these, and much fewer let us know they were found.

Amazing but unsurprising how large contingents on both sides of the political spectrum lack a sense of humor or cognitive ability to recognize and appreciate its variations. Then again, what would political humor be without them demonstrating the mindsets it tries to smoke out.

How was academic philosophy so naïve to invite invasive pests into its garden and so weak to oppose the subsequent takeover? The answer is even more embarrassing than these developments: Philosophy had already lost all spirit and confidence in itself, its goals, and its methods.
