Theres a noodle shop near to my office in East London that is currently playing Japanese versions of things like Carole King songs. Its quite surreal.

New Beth Orton is lovely. Something about her reminds me of Robert Wyatt, especially on this.

Any country fans should check out the latest album by Carter Faith, especially the song Six String, which manages to evoke a Roy Orbison meets Lana Del Rey feel. The album as a whole is a lot less cliche than a lot of the recent big albums by other artists, even while I love them.

This was 1996 for me.

Only been out half an hour, but Ella Langley's Dandelion album will be an album of the year, great country album, if you're a fan of Miranda Lambert or Kacey Musgraves.

Don't talk about my love for Country very often, I grew up with it, think a lot of people did in the 70s with a Celt parent (Welsh mother)for some reason. Lots of Irish families where I grew up so you'd hear their mothers playing it.

Depending on my mood this is one of my top ten Jam tunes. Love the sound of this, Buckler and Foxton sound amazing.

In my head Cruel To Be Kind by Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds' version of Girls Talk are the same song. If I hear one I need to hear the other straight after. And looking them up I see they were recorded at the same time with the same musicians. Which explains it!

In a Booker T & The MGs mood today. This is my favourite of theirs, Carnaby Street. Which was a Small Faces tribute, that apparently blew the Faces away and inspired Tin Soldier in return.

Drops Of God on Apple TV: absolutely loving this, a French/Japanese story of the wine industry. Based on a manga apparently and very beautiful to look at, and also in three different languages so between the visuals and the subtitles you have to watch rather than put on in the background.

Watched The Life Of Chuck tonight. Suspect it will be one of my top films of the year. One scene in particular - you'll know exactly which one if you've seen it - is one of my favourite things for a long time. A beautiful film that reminds me of ripples on a pond.

On a drive and the boy (16) took over the music. So far its been The Jam and The Clash non stop. No DNA test needed.

Just watched the best film I've seen this year, His Three Daughters, on Netflix. About three sisters waiting for their father to die. Beautifully written, acted and directed right to the last line.

At a gig for an up and coming local singer songwriter and the pre gig music is all sorts of folk rock, lots of Fairport style guitars and drones and fiddles. Not sure what I'm in for.

Really loving the latest Wolf Alice album. Its a lot less 'indie', more widescreen and sounding like they've been digging back into classic pop and somgwriter music. Even leaning into country rock in places. And while that makes it sound like they're heading into dadrock territory it sparkles.

Currently going through a Prince obsession. Last time it was this bad was in 2014 when I listened to literally nothing but Prince for 4 months.

Bit obsessed with this, French, cool guitars and a great shiny garage feel.

Not sure what I think about this song. But can't stop listening. Reminds me of Prefab Sprout. Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp and Mari Wilson's Beat The Beat. The shifting time signatures make me feel queasy.
