I spent a great day at the Zoological Collection of University of Halle! I saw not only important beetle materials, but also lots of other fun stuff, including a really interesting collection of domesticated animals and some taxidermized animals!

This weekend, the Museum of Nature held its annual #Openhouse, where the public visited our research and collections facilities! I estimate that more than 2,000 people showed up! It was great to share with the public what we do in the museum, and I hope we inspired people!

I am pleased to announce that, in 2024, I will be joining the Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut (SDEI) as the Curator and head of the Coleoptera section, taking care of more than 2 million beetles and 15.000 types! Stay tuned for future opportunities!🪲

Everybody plays the fool, sometimes! Phymata sp. (Hemiptera, Reduviidae) preying on a Yellowjacket (Vespula sp., Hymenoptera, Vespidae). So many discoveries in my backyard!

Not my favorite group, but definitely acquiring a new appreciation level after a closer look up at them in the wild!
